00:00Good morning. Welcome to the latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Dodging the downpours today. Some heavy showers around.
00:08A lot of spray and surface water on some roads for the morning rush hour as well.
00:12Some pretty hefty downpours across southern England, Wales and the Midlands.
00:16Spreading to eastern England. Staying pretty damp further north as well.
00:19Outbreaks of lighter rain across Scotland, northeast England.
00:23But lingering here for most of the day and feeling fairly chilly.
00:26We'll see some more heavy showers develop through the afternoon over the Midlands
00:29and then particularly eastern England.
00:31There will be some brighter spells between the heavy showers.
00:34And probably a mostly dry afternoon for Northern Ireland.
00:37Some sunny spells in western Scotland.
00:39But stuck under that persistent rain over southeast Scotland.
00:42Temperatures in single figures in lower, further north of that northerly breeze.
00:47Further south though, it's still pretty mild.
00:49Temperatures could reach 15, maybe 16 degrees with a bit of brightness through this afternoon.
00:54As we go through this evening, the rain will finally start to pull away from northeastern parts of England.
01:00It'll take a while. Many areas then become dry and we'll see some lengthy clear spells.
01:06The winds will ease down as well and that's going to allow for things to turn pretty chilly.
01:10The blue you can see on the chart, that's a hint of frost for many overnight.
01:14Temperatures in towns and cities certainly getting close to freezing across the north.
01:18Many rural areas will be a little bit below.
01:20Further south, temperatures may just hold up a little bit higher.
01:23Even here, pockets of frost are still possible.
01:25The main exception will be the far southwest where more clouds spilling in will keep the temperatures up.
01:30But it does make for a rather drab start to the weekend here.
01:33A lot of cloud, further outbreaks of rain possible.
01:36For many though, it's going to be a bright fine start to Saturday.
01:38Some good spells of sunshine.
01:40Could be some mist and fog around.
01:41There will be that frost around too.
01:43But generally staying fine over eastern areas.
01:46But notice the cloud is invading elsewhere.
01:49A fairly grey afternoon for the Midlands, Wales, northwest England and Northern Ireland.
01:53The rain fairly patchy though.
01:55So nothing too persistent.
01:57But notice further west some heavier bursts of rain likely to move in during Saturday evening.
02:03Again, fairly mild in the south.
02:05Although it will be colder certainly initially through the morning compared to recent days.
02:10And further north again, temperatures mostly going to struggle and stay in single digits.
02:14We will see a bit more of that rain creeping in as we go through Saturday night.
02:18And could be some more rain around on Sunday as well.
