00:00Hello there welcome to your Wednesday morning weather update from the Met
00:03Office. Last night was an incredibly windy one as storm Jocelyn tracked
00:08across the country. We still have wind warnings in force through the morning. An
00:12amber warning extends till mid-morning anywhere from northern Scotland down
00:16towards the western side. A broad yellow warning will remain until lunchtime into
00:21the afternoon across more southern areas. Gusts over the hills and mountains will
00:26actually be rather strong as we head through the day. Quite a lively morning
00:30and even in the afternoon despite the fact we'll lose the sting in those winds
00:34yes it does remain rather gusty. And through the morning watch out for some
00:37heavy showers across Scotland as well as Orkney and Shetland. A few showers
00:41running in across Northern Ireland as well. This morning further south you'll
00:44see some hazy sunshine across England and Wales and a blustery wind. So through
00:50the day we watch as the winds slowly ease but it will be a slow process and
00:55the intensity of the showers across Scotland again we'll see those fade as
01:00well. So an improving picture across many areas but notice towards the far
01:04southwest the cloud here will slowly thicken and eventually we'll see some
01:08patchy rain here. So let's just pick up on the detail then through this morning.
01:13You can see those showers continuing and that severe gale force wind across
01:19Shetland as well as Orkney. Still a strong wind through the morning into the
01:23afternoon coming in across Western Scotland as well as Northern Ireland.
01:26A scattering of showers here but you can see the showers will be fairly scattered
01:30across Scotland through the afternoon with some brighter skies eastern and
01:33southern Scotland. Brighter weather also for northern counties of England down
01:36towards the Midlands. A few showers for Wales and some patchy rain for Devon and
01:40Cornwall as temperatures rise to around 9, 10, 11 degrees Celsius. Now subtle
01:45changes through Wednesday evening and overnight as the winds fall a little bit
01:50lighter we'll see temperatures fall quite quickly across Scotland as well as
01:54northern and eastern England. Even some patchy frost here certainly frost for
01:58northeastern parts of Scotland. As more cloud approaches Northern Ireland rain
02:03then moves in across Wales the southwest Midlands central southern England and
02:07eventually Northern Ireland later. Elsewhere it's a dry and cold start to
02:11the day on Thursday even bright across the far north and the far east but
02:15temperatures will struggle first thing and then eventually this cloud will roll
02:18in as rain pushes from Northern Ireland as well as northern England eastern
02:23counties towards Scotland and eventually northeastern areas of Scotland. Notice
02:27this cold front here turns rather squally with some heavy pulses of rain
02:31through the afternoon and into evening time. Worth noting that if you are
02:35traveling through a Thursday evening. Temperatures though will be on the mild
02:39side and I'll see you later.
