00:00Good evening, welcome to the latest update from the Met Office. It's staying
00:03quite cloudy through the course of Thursday. We'll also see some further
00:07heavy rain as well but it is staying mild. We've got mild Atlantic air across
00:11the whole of the UK. It's been pushing northwards through the course of today
00:15but we've also got these weather fronts that are strung across the country and
00:18that's where the focus for the heavier rain will be. So through tonight we'll
00:22see some quite heavy rain across Northern Ireland as well as northern
00:25areas of England, parts of Wales and then that heavy rain will push into Scotland
00:29where it will be by tomorrow morning. Across the south after a spell of
00:33heavier rain it will turn drier by tomorrow morning but
00:37there will be still a lot of cloud around so it will probably be another
00:41quite gloomy start to the day and another very mild start. Temperatures
00:45only dipping as low as 11 or 12 degrees for many areas of England and Wales. Even
00:49in Scotland as well it's going to be a much milder start on Thursday than it
00:53has been recently as that mild air is upon us but also the rain will be quite
00:58persistent through Thursday. I think particularly across southwestern
01:01Scotland as well as parts of Wales and the southwest. Ahead of this band of
01:05rain though in the southeast it will be a fairly dry day and because we have got
01:09mild air we do see any sunny breaks. It's going to feel fairly warm in the
01:13sunshine in fact. Temperatures could climb as high as about 17 degrees in the
01:17southeast if we do get any sunny spells. In the north of Scotland as well parts
01:22of the Highlands and far northeast as well it will turn brighter through the
01:25afternoon as well so some late evening sunshine as well here. However there are
01:30some areas where that heavy rain could cause some issues so we have got some
01:33rain warnings in force for parts of South Wales, the southwest and an area of
01:38the Midlands as well where river levels are sensitive to further heavy rainfall.
01:42So there could be some spray on the roads and some travel delays in these
01:46areas through Thursday afternoon but also into Friday morning as well. The
01:50rain will start to clear though through Friday as the rain pushes into the
01:54southeast on Thursday evening so turning much wetter here by Thursday
01:59evening and by Friday morning as well there could still be some heavy rain
02:03across the southeast. There's a little bit of uncertainty with exactly how
02:06quickly that rain will clear. The rain will eventually push off into the North
02:10Sea as a result of this weather front moving away and behind it we do see a
02:14ridge of higher pressure developing for Friday. So Friday is looking like a much
02:18better day than Thursday. There will be some sunshine to be had particularly for
02:22more southern areas but generally still quite a cloudy day. A risk of an
02:26isolated shower across the hills and the coasts but by and large it will be
02:31another mild and fine day. Highs around 15 degrees in the south. It's staying
02:36mild into the weekend as well but there is some further heavy rain to come
02:40particularly Saturday evening and into Sunday. You can find more details on that
02:44by checking out the 10-day trend with Alex Burkhill on YouTube. See you later.
