00:00Hello there, after a wet few days there is some drier weather on the cards to end the
00:04week and into the weekend for some of us. But through the rest of the afternoon there's
00:08still some very heavy rain to come. The heaviest rain through this morning you can see on the
00:12radar has been across Wales and into the south west. That band of rain has pushed eastwards
00:18over the past few hours and behind it we are seeing some very heavy showers still developing
00:23across Wales, into Northern Ireland and north western Scotland. But it is generally turning
00:28drier across western areas as that band of very heavy rain pushes into the south coast
00:32and into the south east through the rest of the day. That band of heavy rain is a weather
00:37front it marks the difference between colder air ahead of it and milder air ahead of it
00:41and colder air behind it. So once the rain does clear it will start to feel colder as
00:47temperatures fall much closer to the seasonal average for this time of year. We get a westerly
00:51breeze developing across the west. So that will bring clearer and drier conditions to
00:55north and western areas through the rest of the afternoon but we will still see some
00:59showers. Across the south and east though that rain will persist turning quite heavy
01:04through rush hour. There's rain and wind warnings in force across the south and east so there
01:08will probably be some travel disruption and some tricky travelling conditions. However
01:13it will be turning colder from the west so temperatures will be much closer to seasonal
01:18average by the afternoon. That leads us into a much colder night than recently but with
01:23the strength of the breeze any frost should be fairly limited by tomorrow morning. It
01:28will also drag in some showers across western areas, parts of Wales, northern England and
01:32parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland seeing the most frequent showers through tonight.
01:35Across the east though it should stay largely dry once that rain does clear this evening.
01:40So it will be a colder start tomorrow. It could be down as low as minus three in the
01:44north minus one in the south but as I said the strength of the breeze should limit how
01:48much frost we see but it will certainly feel colder than recently to start the day. There
01:53should be some early sunshine though in the south and east across the morning but showers
01:58will push in from the west reaching eastern areas by the afternoon. In the west though
02:02the showers will be most frequent. These could merge into longer spells of rain and bring
02:06a risk of hail and thunder through the afternoon so potentially some fairly unpleasant showers.
02:12In between the showers though there will still be some decent sunshine most long lived across
02:17the east and it's not going to feel too bad in the sunshine despite the cooler temperatures.
02:20Highs of seven or eight are around average for the time of year. Those showers will die
02:25down as we head into Saturday morning so it will be a much drier start to the weekend
02:29though we could see some fairly extensive mist and fog developing. You can find more
