00:00Hello, very good day to you. It is going to stay cold for the time being and with that
00:04there will be some significant snow and ice with a number of warnings out at the moment.
00:09We do currently have low pressure towards the east of us and high pressure towards the
00:12west and it's because of this that we have a northerly flow across the UK and that northerly
00:17flow is leading to cold arctic air plunging its way across the country. As well as that,
00:23that northerly wind then is bringing some fairly hefty snow showers initially across
00:27parts of Scotland, particularly towards the north, but we're also likely to see snow showers
00:31feeding into Northern Ireland, perhaps East Anglia and some wintry showers may be affecting
00:36parts of Wales. Some of these snow showers could be quite heavy, particularly across
00:39parts of Scotland, we could even see some hail at times. Further inland, for more central
00:44southern parts too, it's actually looking largely dry and plenty of sunshine today,
00:48but feeling quite cold. Most places seeing temperatures only just getting above freezing.
00:53Perhaps a bit milder than this towards the south west, here highs around 4 or 5 Celsius,
00:58but notice towards the north east of the UK, here's some strong winds, so a significant
01:03wind chill making it feel very cold indeed. Through the evening and overnight, continuing
01:07with that northerly wind, and so again we're most likely to see snow showers across areas
01:12exposed to it, Northern Scotland, Northern Ireland into Wales. Central eastern parts
01:17likely to stay mostly dry through the night and largely clear skies as well. As a result
01:21temperatures plummeting, many places falling several degrees below freezing, so a fairly
01:26widespread and for some of us, harsh frost on Tuesday morning. Our attention for Tuesday
01:31is turning to a weather system that is then going to push its way across parts of Northern
01:36Ireland, central southern Scotland and into Northern England and this could bring some
01:39significant snow, several centimetres perhaps, some disruption is quite likely. For more
01:45northern parts of Scotland, more snow showers feeding their way in, meanwhile for the rest
01:49of England and Wales, it's actually looking largely fine. Again, a decent amount of sunshine
01:54and whilst temperatures may be a nudge higher compared to Monday, it is still going to feel
01:59pretty cold for many of us. As we go towards the middle of the week and there is another
02:04weather system that's set to push its way in from the south west, we have been keeping
02:07an eye out for this for quite a while now because as this system pushes northwards and
02:11hits the cold air we have across the UK, it could bring some disruptive snow. Now the
02:16latest Met Office data wants to keep the heaviest rain just to the south of the UK,
02:21more affecting northwestern Europe, but some model runs do show that that rain and therefore
02:27that snow risk could push into more southern counties of the UK. So there is the chance
02:32that we could see some disruptive snow across southern parts as we go through the middle
02:36of the week. Also, some further snow showers across more northern parts, we do already
02:40have warnings to cover for that, but it is worth staying up to date with the warnings
02:45that we have. You can do that on our website and our app. And if you have plans this week,
02:49check out our week ahead forecast available on YouTube this afternoon. Bye bye.
