00:00Hello, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. Another cloudy and damp
00:05day for the southern half of the UK and it doesn't look like much is changing over the
00:08next couple of days. Low pressure out towards the southwest, slowly moving its way towards
00:13England and Wales through into Monday morning, before a very brief ridge of high pressure
00:17develops into the middle of the week. That doesn't last long though, low pressure sits
00:21out in the Atlantic, slowly moving its way towards us through the second half of the
00:24week and in towards next weekend. Back to the here and now though, and that wet picture
00:29continues across much of England and Wales. Rain pushing up from the southwest overnight
00:34through Sunday and into the start of Monday, with those rainfall totals across southern
00:38Wales and southern England really starting to build up. That rain perhaps turning to
00:42snow across the hills of Wales, the Midlands and into parts of northern England into Monday
00:46morning, but generally a drier picture across parts of Northern Ireland and Western Scotland.
00:51A cold picture here though under those clear skies, widely down below freezing, perhaps
00:55as low as minus 6 or minus 8 across parts of Scotland. But further south under that
01:00cloud and rain, generally a milder start to Monday. That rain continues to build up across
01:06parts of Wales and southwest England through Monday morning, perhaps causing some travel
01:09disruption during the morning rush hour. Some icy stretches as well under that rain and
01:14particularly in those snow showers across parts of Scotland. However, Scotland and Northern
01:18Ireland definitely seeing the best of the sunshine on Monday. Still feeling cold despite
01:22that sunshine though, temperatures widely in the low single figures across the northern
01:26half of the UK, but a little bit milder across the southwest. However, taking a notch off
01:30those temperatures with the strong wind, cloud and rain. Through Monday evening, rain and
01:36cloud continues across much of England and Wales. Again, perhaps turning to snow across
01:41parts of the Pennines and maybe into the Midlands as well, but generally a very wet picture
01:45into the start of Tuesday morning. Clear skies again though for Northern Ireland and parts
01:49of Western Scotland and another frost expected here, with temperatures widely below freezing
01:54across much of Scotland and Northern Ireland. However, still staying just a little bit milder
01:58under that cloud and rain further south and west. It's another cloudy and damp start to
02:04the day for much of England and Wales on Tuesday. Some hill snow still across parts of the Pennines
02:09through Tuesday morning, but that hill snow and rain and cloud slowly clears its way towards
02:14the south and east through Tuesday afternoon, with some brighter spells developing across
02:19parts of Wales and southwest England. The best of the sunshine though on Tuesday, again
02:23across parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland. However, again, feeling cold in that sunshine.
02:28Temperatures widely in the low single figures here, however, a little bit closer to average
02:32further south and west. Wednesday looks a cold start, but a dry day for most of us before
02:38wet and windy weather returns on Thursday. You can find out more about that though on
02:42our social media channels and don't forget to subscribe to YouTube to never miss a weather
02:46update. Bye bye.
