00:00Hello, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. Storm Ellen has been
00:05named by the Irish Met Service bringing some very strong winds and some heavy rainfall
00:09across the Republic of Ireland and tracking its way into parts of Northern England and
00:13Scotland through this afternoon. We do then see a very brief ridge of high pressure through
00:17Saturday evening before the next system pushes in from the west through Sunday and into the
00:21start of next week. Back to Saturday afternoon though and that heavy rain that we saw across
00:26England and Wales has pushed its way north and eastwards into Northern England, Northern
00:30Ireland and into parts of eastern Scotland as well where we could see the heaviest rainfall
00:34and this rain already falling on some very wet ground. The best of the sunshine through
00:38Saturday afternoon, definitely across the south and east of the UK and temperatures
00:41here around 13 or 14 degrees but with a strong westerly wind that will take a notch off those
00:46temperatures. Temperatures generally closer to average across parts of Northern England
00:50and parts of Northern Ireland as well but again those strong winds making it feel quite
00:53chilly here. Through Saturday evening that rain across the northern half of the UK tracks
00:59its way south and eastwards bringing some particularly heavy rainfall across the Pennines
01:03overnight tonight and into Sunday morning. Some clear spells still persisting across
01:07England and Wales but despite those clear spells there will be some strong winds and
01:10that should help keep temperatures up above freezing. Temperatures across the south generally
01:14around 6 or 7 degrees but perhaps just a little bit cooler across the northern half of the
01:18UK. Despite that bright and sunny start across England and Wales on Sunday morning and the
01:24next system pushes in from the west bringing further spells of wet and windy weather that
01:29spread their way north and eastwards through into Sunday afternoon. That heavy rain again
01:33falling on some very saturated ground so perhaps some localised flooding in places and those
01:38strong winds generally affecting those western coasts first. The best of the sunshine definitely
01:42across parts of England and Wales through Sunday afternoon and again temperatures here
01:46around 13 or 14 degrees but those strong winds definitely taking a notch off those temperatures
01:51and a little bit cooler across Northern Ireland, Northern England and Scotland with all that
01:55cloud and rain. Through Sunday evening those clear skies persist for a time across parts
02:00of England and Wales before we see some showers pushing in from the west into the early hours
02:04of Monday morning. The heaviest showers likely across Northern Ireland, Wales and then into
02:08parts of Northern England as well into the early hours of Monday morning but generally
02:11the south and the east will be staying a little bit clearer. Further wet weather on its way
02:16on Monday but you can make sure you can find out more about that on our social media channels
02:20and make sure you subscribe to never miss a weather update. Bye bye.
