00:00Storm Agnes is a deep area of low pressure which will track across the country through
00:04Wednesday bringing with it damaging winds and also quite a lot of rain. So there are
00:10wind and rain warnings in force. Let me take you through the bigger picture. Through the
00:14early hours of Wednesday morning fairly quiet and also dry before the system moves in around
00:19lunchtime. So this is your wind warning covering much of the country away from the south east
00:24and east Anglia. Winds along the coast, that's Irish Sea coast and the North Channel, could
00:28reach 75mph 55mph inland. That's in terms of gusts and also some heavy rain so expect
00:34some surface water impacts particularly across the south west of Scotland and the central
00:38swathe of Scotland where that rain warning remains in force throughout the afternoon.
00:43Now through Tuesday evening, yes a lot of showers around across Scotland and Northern
00:47Ireland and the far north of England. Rather breezy as well. Further south it's dry through
00:52the evening and overnight and in fact overnight away from the north west of Scotland and the
00:57far north the winds will ease. We'll see an overhang of cloud keeping temperatures
01:02here relatively mild but a chilly end to the night across central and eastern areas of
01:07Scotland with some clearer skies. And in fact through the first part of Wednesday morning
01:13things remain fairly quiet and dry with some sunshine. A few showers still clipping the
01:17far north west of Scotland. However during the morning this cloud will thicken across
01:22the west country Wales and Northern Ireland and then hot on its heels outbreaks of rain
01:27skirting the west country western parts of Wales eventually by around mid morning reaching
01:32Northern Ireland where it will become heavy and persistent. Then the winds pick up some
01:37strength associated with the centre of the low so the winds through the afternoon are
01:41going to turn very gusty. Gale force winds, high waves, there could be problems on the
01:47roads, rails and even some cancellations to ferries particularly across the north channel
01:51as we head through the afternoon. Notice for the Midlands, East Anglia, Eastern Counties,
01:56the South East, that's where you'll see the driest weather, still breezy but some brighter
02:00weather coming through. But a wet and windy evening for Scotland, again some high rainfall
02:04totals, more rain arrives across Northern Ireland through the afternoon into evening
02:09time and again these winds will be relentless picking up across the north east of Scotland
02:14as well as the low tracks towards the far north of the mainland. But through the evening
02:18and overnight into the early hours of Thursday morning it does dry up across the bulk of
02:23England and Wales, Southern Scotland as well as Northern Ireland, still wet across the
02:27Highlands of Scotland and the Northern Isles. Temperatures holding up wherever you are,
02:31not a particularly cold start to the day come Thursday and Thursday will be a fairly windy
02:36one particularly in the north and the west, breezy further south but bright with some
02:40sunshine. Now through the day this band of heavy showery rain pushes in across Northern
02:46Ireland and Western Scotland as the rain clears Shetland. Still windy through the afternoon
02:50even touching Galeforce for a time as temperatures rise around 16, 17, 18 degrees Celsius but
02:56some brighter weather to end the day on Thursday. Come Friday still windy in the north, still
03:01a few showers around in the north west but bright for many and also dry with some sunshine.
