00:00Hi there, following a turbulent week of weather it's a more settled start to the
00:05weekend and certainly by Saturday afternoon many places will enjoy some
00:09warm sunshine, quite the contrast for Friday afternoon. In eastern areas where
00:13there's a lot of low cloud, a cool breeze from the North Sea and some outbreaks
00:18of light rain and drizzle, especially through the East Midlands, parts of East
00:21Anglia into the southeast, that's going to make it feel pretty disappointing for
00:25the time of year with temperatures in the east suppressed at around 11
00:29to 13 Celsius. But further west, well here, plenty of sunny spells breaking
00:34through and for Scotland, Northern Ireland, Western England and Wales a fine
00:38afternoon to come. A couple of showers could break out mainly towards the far
00:42southwest but even here they'll be very isolated compared with recent days so
00:47most places getting away with a fine and dry day in the west. The cloud in the
00:52east however tends to creep westwards through the evening and overnight, still
00:56some affecting the eastern coasts of Scotland but for much of eastern and
01:01central England that's where the low cloud is thickest and it will bring some
01:05hill fog and some mist in places, also some drizzle around the North Sea coast.
01:10Temperatures under the cloud 8 to 10 Celsius. Where we've got the clear skies
01:14though, Western England, West Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, a colder
01:18night to come with a few mist patches in places and some mistiness around the
01:22coasts of Scotland into Northern Ireland, more especially North Sea coast. We've
01:27got that low cloud first thing this weekend so slow start for many through
01:31East Wales into the Midlands, parts of Northern England. Slowly but surely the
01:36low cloud will lift and it will break, the sun will come through but for parts
01:41of Lincolnshire into Norfolk, I think the Yorkshire coast, it will stay misty and
01:46grey through the day on Saturday and that will limit temperatures. Low teens
01:51at best on the North Sea coast once again. Where we've got the sunshine coming
01:55through meanwhile, temperatures rise. High teens, low 20s could be the warmest day
02:00of the year so far, somewhere like the south coast of England, 21, 22 Celsius
02:04possible and for Scotland, Northern Ireland, a fine day to come with plenty
02:08of sunny spells and feeling warm in the north and the west. One or two showers
02:13are possible towards the far southwest again and perhaps over the Brecon
02:17Beacons but actually for many it's a dry day and into the evening we keep the
02:23fine weather but a weather front into the northwest of Scotland will bring
02:27some outbreaks of rain by the end of the day on Saturday and then by Sunday it
02:32pushes that rain into Scotland, Northern Ireland and then by Monday it's reaching
02:36England and Wales as a more showery feature by this stage. We've got low
02:40pressure over Central Europe as we start next week bringing some very unsettled
02:44weather for Italy especially. Higher pressure extending from the Atlantic and
02:49in between the UK with this decaying weather front. So more settled weather
02:53returning once again from the middle of next week although a little bit of
02:57uncertainty about how much the low to the east will bring some showers back in
03:02at times.
