00:00By comparison with the weekend, Friday is looking like a reasonable day if you're into
00:06sunny spells at this time of year. And Thursday ends with plenty of clear spells but some
00:11showers getting going or continuing at least across northern England, much of Scotland
00:16and Northern Ireland, particularly around some of these north and north-western coasts.
00:19In fact, Northern Ireland is seeing some longer spells of rain just a trundle long later.
00:24But where we've got the clear spells elsewhere, temperatures will fall away. I think in main
00:28urban centres staying in the double figures but in rural parts single figures are certainly
00:33feasible and for central sheltered parts of Scotland 5 to 8 Celsius. So a fresh feel as
00:41we begin Friday but bright skies for many, particularly towards the south of England,
00:46south Wales, central Scotland, elsewhere a lot of cloud. Showers soon emerging and again
00:51it's another day for most of sunny spells and showers. But the showers this time more
00:56focus towards eastern Scotland, into northern England, the Midlands, north Wales, east
01:00Anglia, the south-east. The south-west largely staying dry with some sunshine. Western Scotland
01:06also seeing mostly fine weather. But I think where we've got the showers coming through
01:11elsewhere it's going to feel on the cool side. A brisk north-westerly breeze continues for
01:15the likes of Shetland and Orkney. And for Northern Ireland here, well it turns increasingly
01:20damp by the end of the afternoon. The first signs of a more unsettled weather as we head
01:25into the weekend. This band of rain, initially light and patchy, will push into the south-west
01:29of Scotland, north-west England, north Wales. It's more a case of daytime showers eventually
01:35becoming more prolonged into the evening. And by the end of the night as you can see
01:39we start the weekend with this swathe of cloud and outbreaks of rain affecting central and
01:43western areas. Clear towards the south-east, a milder night to come. Northern Scotland
01:47once again rather cool but bright. In fact, northern Scotland is the place to be this
01:52weekend if you're after dry and bright weather. That's effectively the only place in the UK
01:56where we're likely to see mostly fine conditions. Elsewhere we've got weather fronts basically
02:03stretching across the UK from the north-west. A series of fronts, so spells of rain coming
02:09along and easing at times. That rain will be on and off. But it will be heaviest and
02:13most persistent on Saturday across some western hills, especially north Wales, perhaps parts
02:18of Cumbria, the south-west Moors. Gaps in between the rain elsewhere. Don't expect
02:23it to rain all day and it will be a dry start for south-east England before the rain turns
02:28up around lunchtime. Like I say, northern Scotland, one or two showers but otherwise
02:32sunny spells. 18 Celsius possible here. 18 possible further south but we've got the spells
02:38of rain and where it's raining, where it's also fairly breezy, especially around the
02:41English Channel coast, it's going to feel on the cool side. Those spells of rain continue
02:47into Saturday night before eventually clearing away to something a bit more showery on Sunday
02:52although it stays damp across some parts of central and southern Scotland, Northern Ireland
02:56and Northern England. More unsettled weather on the way for next week. Bye bye.
