00:00Hi there, a damp day for many today with a few showery days coming up and then more damp
00:05weather at the weekend. The changeable July weather continues for the time being. Across
00:11the UK, it has been a bright start for Scotland, for eastern and southern parts of England,
00:15but we've seen this rain arrive across Northern Ireland, into western fringes of Northern
00:20England, southern Scotland and across Wales. And through the afternoon, that rain just
00:25sticks around, heaviest and most persistent across parts of south-east Northern Ireland,
00:30south-west southern Scotland. It pushes towards the central belt by the end of the afternoon
00:35and it's going to be damp across Northern England, outbreaks of rain for the Midlands,
00:38into parts of East Anglia and Wales, turning more showery here by the end of the day. But
00:43the brightest skies will be across the far south and south-east of England, where it
00:48will largely stay dry and temperatures will reach 22, possibly 23 degrees. A cool day
00:53but a brighter day there for northern Scotland, albeit with some heavy showers affecting
00:58especially parts of the Highlands and Grampians. A brisk breeze for the far north, but the
01:03showers tend to ease into the evening and they'll just continue around some exposed
01:08northern coastal areas. Meanwhile, the rain across these central parts slides away into
01:12the North Sea, dribs and drabs will remain across parts of Wales, northern and eastern
01:17England for some time and also all these areas of cloud. Well, that will keep temperatures
01:22a bit higher compared with recent nights, 15, 16 Celsius in the south. Scotland, Northern
01:27Ireland seeing the coolest conditions, single figures in some shelter spots as we start
01:31off Wednesday. Still some showers going across northern Scotland by dawn and parts of Northern
01:37Ireland, those showers feeding in on a north-westerly breeze. Meanwhile, the outbreaks of rain that
01:42we start the day with across central and eastern England, well they also turn to showers and
01:46then by the afternoon really it's just a case of sunny spells and showers. But the heaviest
01:50and most frequent downpours will be across eastern parts. The brightest and driest weather
01:54will be across south-western parts, in fact parts of south-west England, Wales largely
01:59dry by the afternoon and faring well in the sunshine. Average temperatures for the time
02:05of year 22, 23 Celsius. High teens in the north, still continuing to feel cool on that
02:11brisk north-westerly breeze for northern and western Scotland in particular. Then into
02:16Wednesday evening the showers tend to fade away and then with clear skies overnight and
02:20this cool north-westerly airflow, well it's going to be a cool night. Temperatures fairly
02:25widely in rural spots in the single figures by dawn on Thursday and mid-single figures
02:31in places at that. But Thursday is another day of sunny spells and showers, likewise
02:36on Friday before more unsettled weather returns this weekend.
