00:00Hi there, before Saturday's rain arrives there are at least some drier and brighter spells
00:06out there but also quite a number of showers especially through parts of Mid Wales, North
00:10Midlands, Northern England, Northern Scotland. Some of these showers will be heavy and frequent
00:16in nature. One or two showers further south but actually these will be fewer and there
00:20will be some sunny spells in between. Western Scotland getting away with largely dry and
00:26bright weather but Northern Ireland sees the rain set in and that will make it feel
00:30cool, 15 Celsius there but it's where we've got the brighter spells further south and
00:35south east, 20, 21 Celsius, a bit below average for the time of year. Still a cool breeze
00:41into the north of Scotland and the breeze picking up towards the west as those spells
00:46rain across Northern Ireland, spread widely into Saturday, numerous weather fronts crossing
00:52the country, mostly affecting Central Scotland southwards, Northern Scotland just on the
01:00north side of that frontal system so staying largely fine. Into Friday evening though there
01:05will be some showers for Northern Scotland along with a brisk breeze. The showers across
01:09Northern England ease away for a time before the wet weather across Northern Ireland pushes
01:13into much of Central and Southern Scotland, Northern and Central England, Wales and some
01:19bits of rain for Cornwall and Devon by the end of the night. With all the cloud and the
01:24breeze picking up as well, well it's not going to be a cold night, temperatures by and large
01:28staying at 13 or 14 Celsius. The one exception, Northern Scotland where it will be a bit cooler
01:34because of the clearer spells here and we keep the sunny skies across Northern Scotland
01:38throughout much of Saturday, that's the place to be if you're after some sunshine, just
01:42a few showers in the far north of Scotland. South east England starts off bright but the
01:47cloud thickens here, the breeze picks up and there will be some outbreaks of rain pushing
01:51in by the afternoon but actually the wettest weather will be further west, especially over
01:56western hills, heavy and persistent and under that persistent rain, temperatures lingering
02:01in the mid teens. I suspect some places will see temperatures throughout much of the day
02:06at 13 to 16 Celsius. All of this accompanied by a strengthening breeze and that breeze
02:12will be particularly strong around southwestern and southern coasts so some strong gusts to
02:16be aware of if you're heading to the coast or indeed if you're camping. Now the spells
02:22of wind and rain eventually push through during Sunday morning in some spots but others will
02:30see the unsettled weather linger. Central and southern Scotland, parts of northern England
02:33in particular a straddling frontal system here, some error bars in terms of the position
02:38of the heaviest rain but it looks most likely that northern England will see large rainfall
02:43totals through the weekend. Either side of that, once again it's a fine day for northern
02:48Scotland aside from a few showers and a cool breeze and for the south a brighter day to
02:54come compared with Saturday but still quite a few showers, a brisk wind as well from the
02:59southwest that continues and where these showers do occur they could be heavy and they could
03:04be prolonged if they line up into various bands for example along the southwest peninsula.
03:09So plenty going on this weekend, it's going to feel cool because of the various areas
03:14of weather moving through but actually with the southwesterly breeze by Sunday we are
03:19bringing in some warmer air and so if we get some breaks in the cloud there's always the
03:25potential for 23 or 24 Celsius somewhere through the Midlands or East Anglia but obviously
03:30feeling cooler near the coast where we've got that strong wind. Then into the start
03:36of next week, well more showery weather for a time before another low moves in around
03:41Wednesday, Thursday.
