00:00Hello again. A real contrast in fortunes across the UK today. A lot of fine weather in the
00:05north and west but there will be cloud and rain elsewhere and for some the risk of some
00:10torrential thunderstorms. Those are forming over France, they're moving northwards within
00:15these weather fronts and they will primarily affect East Anglia and the south east during
00:20the rest of Friday. An area of rain extends through central areas but a ridge of high
00:24pressure there continues to affect northern and western UK. So for Scotland, for Northern
00:29Ireland, for much of north-west England, west Wales and the south-west, sunny spells.
00:34A lot of fine weather, one or two showers in places but otherwise a good deal of decent
00:39conditions. But elsewhere a lot of cloud and outbreaks of rain continue for parts of Yorkshire
00:46into the Midlands, central southern England and for East Anglia and the south east that's
00:50where the greatest risk of thunderstorms will be. We'll be importing them from France, they'll
00:54be moving north and where these thunderstorms hit, of course they'll be hit and miss, but
00:59where they hit there is the risk of 40-60mm of rain and in some spots perhaps more than
01:04that so the risk of localised flooding, a yellow warning for thunderstorms in force.
01:09It will feel cool as well where we've got the outbreaks of rain and thunderstorms, 15-17
01:15Celsius, contrast that to the 29 Celsius we had in the same locations earlier in the week,
01:20significantly cooler with this breeze coming in from the North Sea, a breezy day to come
01:26for parts of England and Wales. So temperatures elsewhere, we've got some sunshine up into
01:32the high teens, perhaps 20 Celsius and clear spells in the north and west overnight but
01:37elsewhere a lot of cloud cover, the thunderstorms and the outbreaks of rain clear away by around
01:42midnight and then for many it's a dry start to the weekend, a lot of cloud cover I think
01:47but where we do get those clear spells overnight, temperatures into the single figures. So a
01:51cool start to the weekend but a good deal of sunny spells for Northern Ireland, for
01:56parts of North East Scotland into North West England, West Wales, Cornwall again. The cloud
02:01will lift elsewhere, it will turn brighter into the afternoon. A few showers will develop,
02:07West Wales, North West England, Western Scotland for example, but for many Saturday is looking
02:11like a dry day and the best of any sunny spells will be across the northern half of the country.
02:16Thicker cloud returns to the south and by the end of the afternoon some further showers
02:20appear into the south but it's going to feel warmer in places compared to Friday with highs
02:26into the low 20s. Now you can see some further thunderstorms developing over the continent
02:32and drifting weather airway northwards through Saturday night so the risk of further thundery
02:37activity into southern parts of the UK, again hit and miss storms, it's much less likely
02:43further north where we keep largely clear skies for Scotland and Northern Ireland. Follow
02:48us on social media and of course you can stay up to date with all the latest. Bye bye.
