00:00Hello, there. Welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. Bit of a mixed
00:04picture so far through Sunday. Actually, a decent amount of sunshine. First thing across
00:08north and eastern areas of Scotland into central Wales, southeastern England as well. But we
00:13do have some blustery showers pushing through the central belt down into the southern borders
00:18region. Also, this rain starting to push into parts of southwest England and Wales. Both
00:24of those features are associated with areas of low pressure that are just gradually shifting
00:29their way eastwards as we head throughout the day. So whilst we will still see some
00:34showers building up across mainland Scotland down into northern England as well throughout
00:37this afternoon, generally those showers are filtering their way off into the North Sea.
00:42But this rain in the southwest is going to continue to progress its way inward, some
00:46heavier bursts possible across parts of Wales into Northern Ireland later on, and also some
00:51outbreaks eventually reaching southeastern areas of England as well. The breeze also
00:56just beginning to build up a touch and in that making it feel relatively cool with all
01:00that cloud and rain around temperatures not much higher than 19 degrees Celsius across
01:04the far southwest, but pushing towards 22, 23 degrees Celsius where you hold onto the
01:09sunshine across the very far east of England and also not too bad of a day in those sunnier
01:14spells in between the showers across Scotland as well. Actually feeling the benefit of that
01:18sunshine across Scotland because this is where the winds are going to be lightest. So quite
01:23a pleasant day up here, but that breeze is really starting to build in from the southwest.
01:29Gusts of 30 pushing towards 35 miles an hour are possible around some coastal areas as
01:35we head throughout this afternoon and into this evening as this rain continues to progress
01:40its way eastwards overnight. Again, some heavier bursts possible, particularly northern England
01:45into Northern Ireland later on. Quite a grey and murky end to the day as well. Some low
01:51cloud and fog around over the hills and coastal areas across the southwest as well. Rain gradually
01:57tracking its way into parts of the central belt, Argyle and Bute, but the north eastern
02:02areas of Scotland once again largely staying dry with some clearer spells and actually
02:07could feel a bit chilly first thing on Monday morning underneath those clear skies getting
02:11down to around five degrees Celsius in some sheltered villages across parts of the Highlands,
02:16but it'll be a much warmer and humid night everywhere else underneath that cloud. Temperatures
02:21in some towns and cities not dropping much below 16 or 17 degrees Celsius. We'll still
02:27have those outbreaks of rain first thing on Monday morning, particularly some heavy bursts
02:31across the Channel Islands lingering into southern coast of England as well. The strongest
02:35winds here will ease down throughout the day, but it still is going to remain relatively
02:39breezy for most of us. Showers for the bulk of England, Wales into Northern Ireland, but
02:45a few brighter spells just trying to push their way through at times, so might actually
02:49make it feel a touch warmer compared to Sunday for some areas of southern Wales into southwest
02:54England where there's brighter spells to begin to develop. But it does look now that the
02:58rain could track its way into parts of the southern Highlands, parts of Moray and Aberdeenshire.
03:04So with all that cloud and rain that does push its way into Scotland, probably feeling
03:07a touch cooler compared to Sunday here. Temperatures held back around 17 degrees Celsius, close
03:13towards 20, 22 degrees Celsius in that sunshine further towards the south. Outbreaks of rain
03:20still lingering as we head throughout much of Monday evening as well. So a relatively
03:25damp, breezy end to the day for the vast majority of us. A few clearer spells just trying to
03:30develop in there at times. And it does look like there will be further unsettled weather
03:34as we head into the start of August as well, particularly on Wednesday, a rather unsettled
03:39windy and wet period to come with some particularly strong winds possible again across southern
03:44coastal areas of England. So do keep up to date with the forecast temperatures as well
03:50as we head towards the end of the week, maybe dropping off a touch towards that rather cool
03:53theme for many of us. We'll provide all those updates as we head throughout the forthcoming
03:58week across all of our social media channels and we'll be back with you for your latest
04:02updates very soon. Bye bye.
