00:00Hello there, there's some much drier weather on the cards for Friday but before then there's
00:05further warnings in force and more rain to come for the rest of Thursday.
00:09So far this morning looking at the radar and satellite imagery we can see quite a large
00:14area of rain that's been pushing south eastwards mainly affecting much of south eastern England
00:18through today. Behind that there's a lot of showers breaking out across parts of Northern
00:23Ireland and into the south west as well.
00:26So through the rest of Thursday afternoon there's a warning in force for the south east
00:30as that rain starts to clear parts of Kent and Sussex but behind that we've got these
00:34showers breaking out mainly across parts of southern Wales and south west England where
00:39there's a thunderstorm warning in force. We could see some quite gusty winds of up to
00:4460 miles per hour around the coast of Cornwall.
00:49Temperatures will be around average for the time of year but feeling a little bit more
00:52pleasant in any afternoon sunshine further north where we see more of that drier weather.
00:58Into Thursday evening the showers across the south west will start to push across the south
01:01coast and into the south east. We could see a mix of thunderstorms and hail in here as
01:06well as some further gusty winds so that might make for some tricky driving conditions on
01:11Thursday evening. Elsewhere though it's going to be a dry and clear night and because of
01:16that notice the temperatures dipping down. We could see temperatures dipping down below
01:20zero across much of northern Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland so a touch of frost
01:25and possibly some icy patches on any wet surfaces by Friday morning. So it'll be a chilly but
01:31quite bright start to Friday across the UK away from the far south east where rain could
01:36linger. And throughout the day we'll see a much better picture than Thursday for much
01:42of the country. So showers will push into northern areas of Scotland as well as north
01:47west England and parts of Wales from time to time but they'll generally be quite light
01:52with plenty of sunshine in between. Temperatures once again will be around average. We've still
01:57got a relatively fresh feed from the north and north west at the moment but it will feel
02:02a little bit warmer out of the breeze across the south west than Thursday. Friday evening
02:08a lot more dry weather to come so a clear and dry evening Friday evening although some
02:13showers will continue to push in across Irish sea coast. Notice though as we head towards
02:19the weekend we start to see more unsettled wet and windy weather arrive from the west.
02:25So this area of low pressure out to the Atlantic is going to swing this frontal system across
02:31the UK for Saturday. So a wet and windy day for many on Saturday perhaps clearing into
02:36showers on Sunday. If you've got plans for firework night and you want to know more details
02:42for the weekend be sure to catch up with our weekend forecast that'll be uploaded to YouTube
02:47later on today.
