27th April - National weather forecast
Transcript
00:00Hi there. A lot less sunshine for most of us compared to what we've experienced so far
00:05this April. Largely cloudy skies and showers for many. In fact, more persistent damp weather
00:11into parts of eastern Scotland, north-east England as well on this cold easterly breeze.
00:17Otherwise, the further west and south you go, the brighter it will be, albeit rather
00:21cloudy. The best of any sunny spells and dry weather, the far south and south-east, the
00:26far north-west of Scotland as well. A brisk wind here making it feel on the cool side
00:31but in the south-east still possible to get 16 or 17 Celsius given the sunshine and light
00:37winds here. But feeling notably cold for north-east Scotland, 6 or 7 degrees in places as well
00:45as for parts of north-east England into the single figures. And the persistent damp weather,
00:50the low cloud as well along that north sea coast continues for a time through the evening
00:54but increasingly the focus for rain and thick cloud shifts south-westwards overnight with
01:01some heavy and prolonged rainfall turning up across parts of Wales and towards the south-west.
01:07Clearing skies for many northern areas and so a touch of frost in places here but mostly
01:13I think given the cloud and the breeze it will be a frost-free night. It will be chilly
01:18though in any of these clearer spots, east Anglia and the south-east and towards the
01:22north-west. We've got this fairly chilly north-easterly flow through Wednesday but
01:28the focus for wet weather really in this area here where it's bounded by the occlusion and
01:35across parts of Wales and the south-west there will be some heavy rain about during the morning
01:40and it will get going a bit more into the afternoon. A mixture of showers and longer
01:44spells of rain I think for parts of central, southern and south-west England as well as
01:49parts of Wales especially towards the south-east of Wales and in some places around this area
01:5410-20mm or perhaps more. Useful rainfall of course but highly variable amounts and where
02:01it's raining all day it's not going to feel very pleasant at all. Further south-east actually
02:07mainly dry and sunny for east Anglia and the far south-east and a brighter day to come
02:11I think for Scotland, northern Ireland and parts of northern England with a mixture of
02:15sunny spells and scattered showers, the showers mostly towards the east. 9-11C in the north
02:21still on the cool side, still the potential for 16-17C in the far south-east given some
02:28sunshine and light winds but where we've got the persistent rain in places, single figures
02:33at best I think. And that persistent rain continues into the evening across parts of
02:39Wales, south-west and southern England. Otherwise clear skies in the north and scattering of
02:45showers, snow over the tops of the Grampians and frost fairly widely in the north by the
02:52start of Thursday. Follow us on social media, of course we'll keep you updated with all
02:57the latest. Bye bye.
