25th August - National weather forecast
Transcript
00:00Hello again. High pressure is with us and it's going to stay for the foreseeable future.
00:07That will bring largely dry weather, some sunshine as well, and for the rest of Wednesday
00:11the warmest weather will be in the north-west. But it won't be sunny everywhere. There is
00:15some cloud around, most notably through these central parts of the UK. Now in places that
00:20is lifting, it's breaking, there's some brighter spells coming through, but for parts of the
00:24Midlands, into East Anglia and the south-east, I think that cloud will be fairly stubborn.
00:29There's some cloud hugging eastern shores and more notably the far north of Scotland
00:33where there will be some drizzle associated with it, along with this cool breeze. So that
00:38will hold back the temperatures in these areas where we get the cloud, where we get the cool
00:42breeze, high teens at best. But where we get the sunshine, especially towards the west
00:46and the north-west, mid-twenties possible. And for western parts of Scotland, western
00:52parts of the Central Belt, 26, 27, perhaps even 28 Celsius. And that would make it the
00:57UK's warmest August day so far. You can see the heat there, out towards the north-west,
01:04but actually Wednesday is the peak of the warmth because a cold front starts to push
01:09across the country on Wednesday night into the start of Thursday, ushering in cooler
01:14air, but also I think in places brighter conditions. So we'll actually lose this cloud across central
01:21zones into the evening, so perhaps some late sunshine to come, before another area of cloud
01:26associated with the cold front pushes into the east, along with some light rain and drizzle
01:30into Wednesday evening and the first part of Thursday morning. But as that drifts its
01:36way westwards, some breaks appear in the east. However, with largely cloudy skies to the
01:41east, 15, 16 Celsius overnight, with some clear spells further west, slightly cooler,
01:4711 or 12 degrees, and for Northern Ireland, for parts of Wales and the south-west, a few
01:52mist and fog patches around by dawn. And it's for parts of Wales and the south-west
01:57where this area of cloud pushes, and so I think that's where the cloudier skies will
02:01be, areas of cloud elsewhere as well, but it's increasingly breaking up, some sunshine
02:05coming through, and certainly through the central area after the cloudy starts, a brighter
02:09day to come. But you can see where the cloud continues to feed in, into eastern parts of
02:14the UK, perhaps even a few showers for East Anglia into the afternoon, along with that
02:19cool breeze, so high teens at best once again along that coast. Sunnier skies I think for
02:25the north of Scotland, but again that cool breeze. And for the UK as a whole, a cooler
02:30day to come, we won't see the highs into the high 20s for western Scotland, but still 24,
02:3625 Celsius possible, 23 elsewhere across western parts of England and Wales once those skies
02:41brighten up. And the cloud is well broken across eastern parts of England, despite there
02:47being plenty of it. So sunny spells for most, but that's east-west differential when it
02:52comes to temperatures. However, with that high pressure sticking around well into the
02:57end of the week and the weekend, well, most places are going to stay fine and dry for
03:02much of the bank holiday weekend. Follow us on social media and we'll keep you updated
03:07as always with all the latest. Bye bye.
