00:00Welcome along to your national weather update from the Met Office, a bit of sunshine around
00:04for most today, but there's also again a few showers. Not everywhere seeing the showers,
00:09some places will stay dry, which is more than can be said for later in the week when this
00:13large area of cloud out in the Atlantic, an area of low pressure will bring rain across
00:18the country, particularly during Wednesday night and into Thursday. But that's all to
00:23come ahead of that through the rest of Tuesday. We're kind of between weather systems, so
00:28the isobars are fairly spaced apart, which means the winds are light, which means the
00:31showers are quite slow moving and they are developing now some heavy ones, particularly
00:36over parts of southern Scotland, northeast England this afternoon, possibly even the
00:41odd rumble of thunder. Elsewhere, the showers are pretty well scattered, a few over the
00:45Midlands, not too many over West Wales, southwest England this afternoon. Many places here will
00:50just stay dry and things turning mostly dry in northern Scotland. The breeze, though,
00:55is still coming down over the northern isles, making it feel quite chilly and generally
00:59the air is still coming in from the north. So temperatures are a degree or so higher
01:03than yesterday in the south, up to maybe 21 Celsius, but for most still below average
01:07for the time of year. And it certainly feels cooler when the showers come along. And still
01:11a few of those heavy showers around through this evening for the rush hour across parts
01:15of northeast England. We'll see a bit more showery rain then through the night, pushing
01:18into the north coast of northern Ireland, southwest Scotland. For many, though, elsewhere
01:23it becomes dry and lengthy, clear spells and still the cool air in place. So it is
01:28going to be quite a fresh start to Wednesday. Temperatures down into single figures, even
01:32in some urban areas and a few degrees lower in the countryside. Not quite so chilly where
01:37we keep the zone of cloud over parts of northern England, southern Scotland, where there will
01:41be quite a grey start to Wednesday. A little bit of light rain and drizzle is possible.
01:47But for many, it'll be a fine sunny start over much of Wales, the Midlands, southern
01:52England and northern Scotland. Further west, though, that weather system we saw earlier,
01:56that will start to arrive. The cloud moving in across northern Ireland, rain setting in
02:00here during the afternoon and trickling into west Wales, southwest England by the end of
02:05the afternoon, too. Many central and eastern parts will stay dry until the evening time.
02:11Just one or two scattered showers over southeast Scotland and northeast England. And with a
02:16bit more sunshine, temperatures a bit higher, but closer to average across central and eastern
02:21parts, maybe getting up to 23, perhaps even 24 Celsius. But it will be turning cooler
02:26as the rain arrives in the west and it won't stop there. That rain will spread into Wales,
02:33southwest England by evening time and then into parts of the Midlands, northwest England
02:38and up across much of Scotland before sunset. The extreme east of England may well stay
02:42dry during daylight hours, but that rain will move in because that weather system continues
02:47to push across the country during the night, bringing a lot of cloud and misty conditions
02:52to start with on Thursday, then a bit of a gap. So some places will be dry again on Friday
02:57before that main low itself then kind of just sits across the country as we head into the
03:02weekend, bringing plenty more showers to come. So the weather remaining pretty changeable
03:06at best and generally on the cool sides. For more information, as always, don't forget
