26th August - National weather forecast
Transcript
00:00Hello there. For the rest of this week and the weekend, things are looking decidedly
00:05fine and dry with some sunshine. Chance of one or two showers on Saturday towards the
00:10southeast. Now, let's have a look at Wednesday evening. We watch as a weak weather front
00:16comes in from the east. Behind this cloud, the air is clearer and also drier, so we will
00:21see some brighter skies emerging tomorrow. But for the time being, that cloud drifts
00:26further westwards through the night and associated with it will be the odd spot or two of rain
00:31confined to more eastern counties of Scotland as well as England. We could see some mist
00:36and fog patches across Northern Ireland and some low misty clouds across Irish sea coast
00:40across the far northwest of Scotland as well. So through the night, not a lot happening
00:45to be honest and temperatures holding up a little fresher than last night. Lowest temperatures
00:50perhaps the Cairngorms down to around 8 or 9 degrees Celsius. First thing then on Thursday
00:56morning, you can see a mix of clouds and sunshine for Scotland. Some clearer skies though for
01:01the northern isles, better than the last few days. We run into more clouds across eastern
01:05counties. Northern Ireland seeing some mist and fog clearing around mid to late morning
01:09and more clouds first thing associated with this weak cold front across Wales as well
01:14as the west country. But the cloud is broken, allowing some brighter skies to come through
01:18and an improving picture through the day on Thursday. So through Thursday morning into
01:23the afternoon, notice this keen breeze coming down the east coast. Now this will deliver
01:29some fresher air but the cloud will break, some brighter skies but one or two showers
01:33are possible, particularly for eastern counties of England. And then through the afternoon
01:38an improving picture everywhere, some fine conditions, some warm sunshine and temperatures
01:43rising quite nicely. Not as high as what we have seen over the last day or so, even
01:49so for western Scotland again 24, 25 Celsius, 23 across England and Wales away from this
01:55eastern strip where exposed to that breeze, temperatures around the high teens. Now on
02:01Friday it's a similar situation. Temperatures typically around average for this time of
02:06year helped with some late August sunshine and that sets the scene for the weekend. High
02:12pressure firmly in charge, extending right across the country. As you can see here, there's
02:17a small chance of a shower towards the southeast on Saturday, still some sunshine coming through
02:23and here's your outlook for Sunday as well as Monday. Still a bit of a breeze towards
02:27the east but feeling pleasantly warm in the sunshine as temperatures rise to the low twenties.
02:32So all in all, into the weekend, yes, we remain under a settled spell with some good spells
02:37of sunshine. I'll see you later. Bye bye.
