29 August - National weather forecast
Transcript
00:00Hello again. We will continue to see a lot of settled weather this weekend, with some
00:05warm sunshine by day, but some chilly nights where skies remain clear. This is all down
00:10to a large and slow-moving area of high pressure which stays with us for the next few days.
00:14It lies to the north-west of the UK, so western areas will often be sunnier and warmer, whilst
00:19eastern areas will be cloudier and cooler.
00:22So coming back to Saturday evening, and any showers in the south-east will die away with
00:26some clear skies developing. Cloudy in the north though, and that low cloud will spread
00:30inland, bringing a grey end to the night across Northern Ireland, north-eastern Scotland and
00:35eastern parts of England. Where skies do stay clear, it will be chilly by morning, with
00:40the coldest rural spots getting down to 4 or even 5 degrees.
00:44On Sunday morning, the best of any sunshine will be in sheltered west and southern areas.
00:48Elsewhere, often quite large amounts of cloud, however I think we'll see some sunny spells
00:53at times. Disappointing though across the far north-east, where there could be even
00:57the odd spot of drizzle in the afternoon. Warmest in the sheltered west, and cool along
01:02north sea coast in a rather nagging breeze.
01:05On Sunday evening, we'll continue to see often large amounts of cloud in the east and
01:09the north, with some patchy drizzle in the far north-east for the Shetland Islands. Dry
01:14elsewhere with some late sunshine to end the day.
01:17Looking ahead, the settled weather stays with us for the next few days, although it will
01:21often be cloudy, with the best of the sunshine in the west. And of course you can stay up
01:25to date with the latest by following us on social media.
