13th April - National weather forecast
Transcript
00:00Hello again. There will be some heavy showers during the rest of today and
00:04with light winds those showers may well be slow-moving but away from the showers
00:07sunny spells are expected. The best of the sunshine, northern and northeast
00:11Scotland into eastern England as well. These areas most likely to stay dry but
00:16the cloud bubbling up elsewhere and some sharp showers developing particularly
00:20for southwest Scotland, Northern Ireland, northern and western England as well as
00:23Wales. Because of the light winds the showers will be slow-moving so some
00:26areas will catch shower after shower other areas will miss out even in those
00:30areas most likely to see these downpours and with the light winds in the sunshine
00:36actually it will feel reasonably warm 11 to 13 Celsius perhaps 14 in London
00:42further north 8 to 10. The showers continue for a time into the evening but
00:47generally they'll decay and the cloud will clear one exception an area of
00:52patchy cloud pushing through parts of northern and then central England
00:55perhaps one or two showers continuing into the early hours and that makes for
00:59a patchy frost in central parts of the UK but elsewhere with long spells of
01:04clear sky we're going to see a widespread frost forming minus 3 or
01:08minus 4 across parts of Wales and Northern Ireland as low as minus 6 or
01:12below for sheltered parts of Scotland. Towns and cities generally 0 to minus 2
01:18degrees. We've still got this chilly air in place across the UK that'll arrive
01:22from the Arctic at the end of last week but with high pressure now established
01:26across the UK it's going to stay mostly dry over the next few days but a couple
01:31of exceptions because there are some things going on way up in the atmosphere
01:36where the jet stream is and you can see a filament of the jet stream just
01:40towards the southwest of the UK and that will provide some uplift some cloud
01:45development during Wednesday. First thing though there's likely to be a few fog
01:49patches across southern and southwest England Wales and especially Northern
01:52Ireland they'll lift quite quickly and then the cloud will build once again
01:55and like I say it's across Wales in the southwest where we're most likely to see
01:59the biggest shower clouds developing into the afternoon some sharp downpours
02:03and again they'll be slow moving in places but further north and east
02:07showers less likely and it'll be a sunnier day I think for northern
02:11Scotland as well as parts of eastern England and with light winds again
02:16temperatures of 11 to 13 Celsius although on the cool side it's not going
02:21to feel unpleasant. Now temperatures will be a little bit lower in the
02:26southeast because of the winds coming from the northeast but a little bit
02:29higher further west 13 or 14 Celsius across parts of western southwest
02:34England as well as West Wales. The shower clouds tend to disappear during
02:39Wednesday night so expect a widespread frost once again forming by Thursday
02:43morning one or two fog patches as well but Thursday on the whole is looking
02:47many dry. Bye bye.
