00:00Hello again. Welcome to your latest update from the Met Office. Much of Scotland, Northern
00:04Ireland, a good part of Wales having a fine day today with sunny spells. But across large
00:09parts of the South, it's certainly a lot cloudier than recent days. And in a few places, there
00:15could be some lively thunderstorms. There were certainly a fair few thunderstorms overnight,
00:20all spreading up from France and across England and Wales in particular. We've seen them clearing
00:26out into the North Sea, but we're not completely done yet. The potential for further storms to
00:31develop across East Anglia in the southeast this afternoon, further outbreaks of rain likely across
00:36the Midlands and Lincolnshire too. But elsewhere, as I said at the start, many places dry and bright
00:41with some cloud, yes, but also some sunny spells. Just the odd shower for Northern Ireland and
00:46North West Scotland. Not as hot as recent days as well. Temperatures around about average,
00:51feeling pretty pleasant in the sunny spells, but probably feeling quite sticky and humid
00:55across East Anglia in the southeast where temperatures could get to 24, 25 even if we
01:01do see any sunshine coming through. But it's in this area also we've got the heat and humidity
01:05that we could see isolated but intense downpours. Not everywhere we'll see them, but where we do
01:11see these thunderstorms developing, they'll drop a lot of rain in a short space of time,
01:16create some pretty tricky travelling conditions and even the potential for some local flash floods.
01:22So we do have a Met Office yellow warning in force through the rest of today
01:26and even overnight tonight and into Friday. There is the risk of further thunderstorms spreading up
01:31from France. Many places will have a dry night tonight and with those clear skies across the
01:36north, it will be quite a chilly night here actually. Temperatures well down into single
01:40figures even in towns and cities, whereas notice the warmth continues across the southeastern
01:47quarter of the UK. Another pretty humid night here and the potential for those storms to come back
01:53and they're more likely to stick around on Friday. Some uncertainty about how far north
01:58they extend and where this rain band lingers through the day, but the real threat of further
02:03big storms then coming in through the afternoon. Notice those really bright colours once more,
02:08most likely across East Anglia and the southeast. But again, notice much of Northern England, Wales,
02:14the far southwest of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland having another, by and large, dry day
02:19with a decent amount of sunshine. With the winds coming in from the North Sea, it'll feel pretty
02:23fresh I suspect under that rain band across the North Sea coast of England. Temperatures generally
02:30a bit below average for the time of year, mid to high teens at best. During Friday evening,
02:37say some uncertainty about the extent of these downpours across eastern England, but for quite
02:41a few it does look very wet indeed, whereas further west most places will stay dry. And those
02:45downpours should be clearing away, so Saturday does look largely dry. But over the next couple
02:51of days, the potential for those thunderstorms, some lively ones this afternoon, a continued risk
02:56for Friday and into Saturday morning across parts of eastern England. Keep up to date with the very
03:01latest developments and keep across those weather warnings by downloading the app or visiting our
