13 June - National weather forecast presented by Alex Deakin
Transcript
00:00Hello, welcome to your national weather update. The heat will be building this
00:04week. Certainly for some of us it's going to be the hottest spell of the year so
00:08far. High pressure is slowly but surely moving in but it's not completely
00:13dominant at the moment. We have a bit of a north-south split with weather fronts
00:17threatening cloud and at times some patchy rain to the far northwest. But
00:21certainly elsewhere most places dry today. There's a fair bit of cloud
00:24around. It's far from blue skies everywhere but some sunny spells
00:28developing. Certainly over much of England and Wales and at times eastern
00:32Scotland. It's the odd shout for Northern Ireland drifting into southwest
00:35Scotland. Thicker cloud always across the Highlands, the Western Isles and the
00:39Northern Isles. Temperatures here 12 to 14 degrees. Elsewhere high teens to the
00:43low 20s across the south. 22, 23 possible where we see some lengthy spells of
00:49sunshine. We will see the cloud breaking up a little bit more through the evening
00:52time. So a fine end to the day for most and I'll leave Marsdy clear skies
00:57overnight. Still thicker cloud at times over the Highlands and the Western Isles.
01:00Bit of a breeze here as well with rain on and off. But otherwise a dry night,
01:04clear nights. A reasonably fresh one as well. Temperatures down into single
01:09figures in most urban areas. Certainly going to get warmer both by day and by
01:13night as we head towards the end of the week. And Tuesday will feel warmer for
01:17most because there'll be more sunshine. So quite rapidly in the morning the
01:21temperatures will start to rise. Nowhere near as much cloud across England and
01:25Wales. Small chance of the odd shower over northern England, southern Scotland
01:28and Northern Ireland. But very hit and miss. Most places dry. Again the main
01:33exception will be the Highlands and the Western Isles where there will be cloud
01:36thick enough to provide outbreaks of rain. Elsewhere though plenty of lengthy
01:41spells of sunshine. Strong sunshine as well. UV levels are going to be high or
01:46very high this week. Pollen levels are also going to be high or very high.
01:50Temperatures will be rising. Up more widely over 20 degrees across England
01:56and Wales. 23, 24 across the southeast. Cooler around some coasts and cooler
02:00where we have the thicker cloud and the rain across the northwest which will
02:04continue through Tuesday evening. Behind me another set of weather fronts lurking
02:09and that will bring more cloud and patchy rain to the northwest on Wednesday.
02:12Otherwise again largely clear skies. A balmy, very pleasant evening on Tuesday
02:18evening. We will see this weather front behind me as I said just pushing a
02:22little further during Wednesday. But the high pressure becoming more and more
02:26dominant as it starts to slip its way a little further east. That will allow a
02:30plume of warm air to waft up from the near continent and temperatures building
02:34day on day with the intense sunshine. So by Friday some parts of the UK
02:40particularly the southeast likely to be up over 30 degrees Celsius. More on that
