00:00Hello, welcome to your latest update from the Met Office.
00:03More sunny spells for most parts of the country today.
00:06For many, not quite as high temperature-wise as Sunday,
00:09but across the southeast, we could get up to 29,
00:13possibly even 30 degrees Celsius.
00:15Here's the image from space.
00:17The satellite's showing a lot of cloud.
00:19And earlier on on the radar, quite a bit of rain.
00:21That's fizzling out.
00:22This band of cloud, though, is a cold front,
00:24which will continue to trickle southwards,
00:26bringing more cloud to Wales and the Midlands,
00:29a little bit misty and murky around the coast of South Wales
00:32and maybe southwest England, too.
00:34But further south, it stays dry with sunny spells.
00:36And across Scotland, Northern Ireland,
00:38apart from a few showers, across the Highlands,
00:41most places dry.
00:42It's quite windy, though, across the north of Scotland.
00:45And certainly, it feels a lot cooler here
00:47compared to the southeast, where, as I said, 28, 29,
00:50possibly 30 Celsius.
00:51Elsewhere, generally temperatures
00:53around or still a little bit above average.
00:55But it does feel somewhat colder with that strong wind
00:59and a few scattered showers over northern Scotland.
01:02That wind will ease through the day,
01:03and the showers will tend to fade through the evening
01:05as well.
01:06Cloud will increase a little bit through the evening
01:08across parts of the south.
01:09But again, most will be dry.
01:11And as skies clear through the night,
01:13it will be generally a cooler night, a more comfortable night
01:17for sleeping.
01:18However, the warmth and humidity will
01:20hang on across the southeast.
01:21So here again, temperatures staying in the mid-teens.
01:25But elsewhere, for many, will be down to single figures.
01:28So as I say, a more comfortable night and a cooler
01:30start to Tuesday.
01:31But Tuesday's a cracking day.
01:33Plenty of sunny spells on offer.
01:35It will start quite cloudy across East Anglia
01:37and the southeast.
01:38And it will end wet and windy across the northwest,
01:41rain coming into the Western Isles
01:43and eventually Northern Ireland.
01:44That rain could be pretty heavy and accompanied
01:46by an increasing wind.
01:48But elsewhere, again, most places dry and fine.
01:52And temperatures, again, around or above average.
01:55Not quite as hot across the southeast.
01:57But still here, we could get to 25 or 26.
01:59More typically, we're looking at 18 to 24 Celsius.
02:03But it will be cold as that wet and windy weather
02:05arrives in the northwest.
02:07Away from the wet and windy weather,
02:08though, it will stay fine well into the evening
02:11for most of England and Wales.
02:12Just a cautionary note, again, UV levels
02:15will be high or very high for the next couple of days.
02:17And grass pollen levels will remain high or very high
02:20for most parts of the UK as well.
02:22Now, this weather front bringing the wet and windy weather
02:25on Tuesday evening will make further progress
02:27further south on Wednesday, but fizzle out as it does so.
02:30And then we're looking to the south.
02:31There's some potentially very hot and humid air comes up.
02:34And these weather fronts could spark
02:36some significant thunderstorms later this week.
02:39Quite a bit of uncertainty about the exact timing.
02:42And of course, with thunderstorms,
02:43any exact location.
02:45So make sure you stay up to date.
02:47But from Wednesday evening in particular,
02:50a realistic chance of some significant thunderstorms,
02:53especially across the south.
02:54There is a Met Office yellow warning in place.
02:57So something to keep an eye on.
02:58Make sure you keep up to date with the latest forecasts
03:01throughout this week.
03:01Best way to do that, follow the Met Office on social media.
