14 September - National weather forecast presented by Helen Roberts
Transcript
00:00Hello Tuesday is looking very cloudy for just about all of us, with some heavy and at times
00:05thundery outbreaks of rain pushing north-eastwards. For the time being, a good deal of cloud across
00:11the UK, thickening all the while, bringing some outbreaks of rain or drizzle to many
00:16parts of the country. And all that cloud acting like a blanket, so a very mild night for just
00:22about all of us, temperatures holding into the mid-teens for many, so a very humid night
00:27for sleeping. And so Tuesday starts on rather a grey note for most of us, a good deal of
00:33cloud right the way across the UK, and that rain gathering pace becoming increasingly
00:39heavy and persistent as it tracks its way north-eastwards across the country. We do
00:44have a warning for heavy rain, a yellow warning, and that is valid from 6am right the way through
00:51until the end of the day. The heaviest and most persistent rain likely to be across parts
00:56of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. Temperature wise, fairly typical for this time of year,
01:01feeling pleasantly warm if there are any breaks in the cloud, and a little bit of sunshine
01:06but they will be fairly few and far between. Now into Tuesday evening, the rain continues
01:12to start to edge away north-eastwards, but some eastern areas holding onto the damp conditions
01:17right the way through the night. Elsewhere it becomes drier, but that cloud rather stubborn,
01:22one or two breaks developing, but generally speaking another very cloudy night and another
01:26very mild one as well. Into Wednesday we keep hold of the clouds generally speaking, again
01:32a few breaks will develop here and there, but they will be the exception rather than
01:36the rule. And this rain still clinging on across some more eastern parts of the country,
01:42but elsewhere a good deal of dry weather, although we are likely to see a few showers
01:45cropping up across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland. Temperatures very similar
01:52to the previous few days, high teens to low twenties. And you can get more information
