01 November - National weather forecast presented by Aiden McGivern

00:00Hello again. Following some very lively weather through the weekend, the weather stays windy
00:05during the rest of Monday. The wind is gradually easing, still some showers around or longer
00:11spells of rain in a few spots, but increasingly we're going to see sunny spells away from
00:16the showers, especially heading towards the middle of the week as this low moves away.
00:20But around the centre of the low, isobars packed together tightly, weather fronts still
00:25nearby and so for the north and north-east of Scotland, risk of gales in exposed spots
00:30and that strong wind continuing to drive some persistent wet weather into the north-west,
00:36with rainfall totals mounting up here during the rest of Monday. Also some persistent rain
00:40at times for parts of north-west England into the north midlands. Otherwise it's showers,
00:45especially in the north and the west, one or two further east, but it's in the south
00:49and the east where we'll see the best of any sunny spells. A cold wind now though means
00:53that temperatures will be lower compared to what we've seen in recent days, 12 or 13 in
00:57the south, 9 or 10 further north. And that wind continues to blow showers into the north
01:04and the west overnight. Some of these showers funnelling through topographic gaps, so for
01:10example the Bristol Channel could see quite a number of showers coming through into parts
01:15of north-west England as well as northern Scotland. But away from the north and west
01:21of the UK, in the south and the east, temperatures will dip away under any clear spells. And
01:27where we've got some light winds in the south, a few mist patches forming overnight, temperatures
01:31dipping here, close to freezing in one or two spots. Once any mist patches disappear
01:38though on Tuesday morning, plenty of sunshine for central, southern and eastern parts of
01:42the UK. Further showers into the north and the west and some showers will get going elsewhere.
01:47But the showers will be fairly fleeting away from the north and the west and decent sunny
01:53spells in between. A slightly colder day in the north, 9 or 10 in the north of Scotland,
02:0012, 13 Celsius in the south. Out of the wind, in the sunshine, pleasant enough but that
02:05wind will have a bit more of a cold feel to it compared to how we experienced things throughout
02:10last week. Into Tuesday night, showers dying away quite widely inland, plenty of clear
02:16skies about. But you can see further showers affecting parts of north and west UK, especially
02:22around coasts. And that's the theme as we go through Wednesday and Thursday. We've got
02:26this northerly wind which will drag colder air in, particularly to the north of the UK.
02:32And showers will continue, especially around coasts. But inland, that's where we'll see
02:37the best of any clear spells or sunny spells until this weather front arrives later in
02:42the week to bring some rain by the weekend. So for the rest of this week, well, plenty
02:48of dry and sunny weather at times. There will be showers, particularly around northern and
02:52western coasts and it will feel a bit colder compared to recent days and weeks. Follow
02:57us on social media, we'll keep you updated on the day-to-day detail. Bye bye.
