13 September - National weather forecast presented by Aidan McGivern
Transcript
00:00Hi there. It's been a cloudy start for much of the UK and it's going to stay generally
00:06cloudy especially in the west where there will be some outbreaks of light rain throughout
00:10much of the afternoon. Brighter skies in the east with some cloud breaks for northern Scotland,
00:16for parts of eastern England as well but generally a lot of medium cloud here, lower cloud further
00:22west for southwest Scotland, northern Ireland, western England and Wales where there will
00:26be some of these outbreaks of mainly light rain continuing into the afternoon. Perhaps
00:31some moderate showers for northern Ireland however, some more persistent rain pushing
00:35into Cornwall by the end of the afternoon. Feeling cool here but a little warmer there
00:41where we've got the cloud breaks further east. Into the evening and these spells of light
00:48rain tend to migrate north-eastwards into southern and western Scotland, parts of northern
00:52England. They'll come and go through the night I think and by the end of the night
00:57there will be the signs of some more persistent rain into the south coast of England but generally
01:03a little drier and clearer towards the east. However, most places keep the cloud and as
01:08a result a mild night, 14 or 15 Celsius. Tuesday starts off with this low pressure to the south
01:14of the UK, some heavy rain for the Channel Islands and then that heavy rain developing
01:18more widely across central and eastern England as the day progresses. So initially dry for
01:24central and southern areas on the whole but quite quickly this persistent and heavy rain
01:29pushes into southern England and then the Midlands and eastern England by the afternoon.
01:35Some large rainfall totals in places could cause issues, a yellow warning in force but
01:40it will brighten up towards the west, northern Ireland especially, southwest Scotland, south
01:45Wales. Some heavy showers though developing here, hit and miss downpours and for northern
01:50Scotland some brighter skies on one or two showers but generally cloudy elsewhere and
01:55under the cloud a little cooler and where we've got the rainfall, well it certainly
01:59will have an impact on temperatures, mid-teens at best, where that rainfall persists across
02:04parts of Yorkshire, Lincolnshire for example, throughout much of the afternoon. So a reverse
02:10of fortunes if you like on Tuesday afternoon with the brightest skies to the west and higher
02:15temperatures here as a result. The showers in the west tend to ease into the evening.
02:19This rainfall continues for much of the evening however so a wet day to come for some places.
02:24It's a persistent rain throughout most of the day. Clearer skies towards the west and
02:31a sign of something a little different from mid-week. Wednesday, Thursday look drier and
02:36clearer, some fog patches forming overnight but generally fine during the day before a
02:41band of rain rushes in from the west on Friday. We'll keep you updated as always on social
02:46media. Bye bye.
