00:00Hi there, and welcome to the latest update from the Met Office.
00:03Monday's rain clears most places overnight, but it will somewhat stall in the south-east
00:11as it arrives through the evening. East Anglia, south-east England turning increasingly damp,
00:16but the rain turns more light, outbreaks of generally patchy rain and drizzle by the end
00:21of the night. Clearer skies return to much of the rest of the UK, still quite blustery
00:26in the west and the north of Scotland with showers here. Otherwise, with clear skies
00:30and light winds, a few fog patches here and there and temperatures dipping close to, if
00:35not below freezing in some spots. So a frosty start to Tuesday, minus two to minus four
00:42Celsius for sheltered parts of northern England and Scotland, but a fine day to come because
00:47high pressure is building in following the passage of this cold front. But it does linger
00:52there close to the south-east and then this other warm front attached to it starts to
00:56push north again by the end of Tuesday to bring a return to cloudy and damp weather
01:02for many. So a dull and damp start to the south-east and a lot of cloud cover I think
01:08for southern counties of England, south Wales on Tuesday morning. Meanwhile, north Wales,
01:13north Midlands, northwards it's blue skies for many. Still a few showers for the north
01:17and west of Scotland, these tending to fade as the day goes on. So for much of Scotland
01:21away from coast, it's looking fine, plenty of sunshine and light winds also into northern
01:27Ireland and northern England. A fine day to come then and feeling pleasant in that sunshine
01:31eight or nine Celsius. But to the south, increasingly damp and that rain turning more persistent
01:38for parts of Cornwall as we end the afternoon, not feeling very pleasant despite temperatures
01:42being a touch higher in the south compared to the north. Then that cloud and those outbreaks
01:48of rain and drizzles start to move north during Tuesday night into the early hours
01:53of Wednesday. Of course with this extensive cloud for England, Wales, Northern Ireland
01:56it's going to be frost free but increasingly damp. Scotland meanwhile sees clear skies
02:02and light winds continue and a frosty start here on Wednesday. But the blue skies won't
02:08last for much of Scotland. We are going to see eventually the cloud and these outbreaks
02:13of rain push north into Scotland and the wind will pick up as well with the winds nearing
02:19gale force for the exposed western coasts and northern coasts of Scotland. But we keep
02:23the sunshine for much of the day for the far north of Scotland although it does turn increasingly
02:28breezy here. By the afternoon you can see the extensive cloud on the map, those outbreaks
02:33of rain and drizzle, perhaps some drier interludes in the south and the east at times through
02:37the day but otherwise with the breeze, with extensive low cloud, it's not going to feel
02:42quite as pleasant even if temperatures are far off what they are on Tuesday. More rain
02:48to come through on Thursday, very slowly clearing on Friday but the sunshine does promise to
02:55return for the weekend. And of course I'll have much more through the next few days on
03:00all of that and you can keep up to date with any updates on social media. Bye bye.
