00:00Hello, and welcome to the forecast for the week ahead from the Met Office. Three words
00:04sum it up for most places most of this week, warm, sunny and dry. There will be a few exceptions
00:12here and there from day to day, but for the most part, high pressure is dominating the
00:16weather. At the moment, it's to the east of the U.K., low pressure staying well clear
00:21to the west. But through the next few days, that high pressure becomes more centred over
00:26the top of the U.K. particularly by the end of the week across eastern parts of the country.
00:32And so, well, that's going to keep weather fronts at bay, it's going to keep cloud and
00:36rain away and maintain generally sunny and warm conditions. Having said that, at the
00:43moment with that high pressure to the east, we start off Tuesday with some medium cloud
00:47drifting north and that medium cloud could give one or two showers to parts of Wales,
00:52the Midlands, northern England and southern Scotland. These really will be the exception.
00:57You'd be unlucky to be caught in one of these showers because for most, it's a dry and increasingly
01:02sunny day with the best bells of sunshine in the south and the north and temperatures
01:07responding very well with that warm southerly airflow. We're looking at 16 to 18 Celsius
01:13fairly widely into the potential for 20 degrees somewhere like London or Cambridge. Much cooler
01:19there in the far north of Scotland but even Orkney could see highs of 14 Celsius. And
01:24then a frosty start in places on Wednesday following a clear night. A few fog patches
01:30particularly for parts of eastern England. However, they'll lift very quickly during
01:35the morning and then, well, a lot more sunshine to come. Even more sunshine compared with
01:40Monday and Tuesday. Still the potential for an outside shower to break out across eastern
01:47parts of England. But really, these will be the exception for the vast majority. It's
01:53dry and sunny and warm. 19 Celsius again, the top temperature there towards the southeast.
01:5817 for Glasgow, 15 Aberdeen and Belfast. So, temperatures well above average by day. But
02:04by night, we'll still see a touch of frost at times. So, for example, on Thursday morning,
02:09especially the southern half of the UK, we'll see a touch of frost in places. And a few
02:14fog patches around first thing, especially the east of England. And it's in the east
02:18and north of England where we'll see one or two showers developing during the afternoon.
02:23But once more, for most, it's dry, it's sunny and it's warm again. 16, 17 Celsius there
02:30in the south. Now, for north and northwest Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland, we'll
02:35see a thickening of the cloud on Thursday. A few spots of rain and drizzle as well coming
02:41in mainly for the northwest of Scotland. A similar thing on Friday because high pressure
02:47will be centred more towards the south and the east of the UK. So, we'll have this westerly
02:51or southwesterly affecting the far northwest. And so, for northwest Scotland, cloudier skies,
02:56a few showers breaking out here. But elsewhere, just some fair weather cloud building in the
03:01south and the odd shower possible. But for the vast majority, it's going to be dry, bright
03:08and warm with that sunshine. Highs of 15 or 16 Celsius and really little change as
03:13we head into the weekend. High pressure staying nearby and that's going to bring further spells
03:19of sunshine. It's going to keep things dry for the vast majority on Saturday and Sunday.
03:24It will continue to be a little bit chilly in places by night, but warm with that sunshine
03:29by day. Much more on our social media channels. Bye bye.
