00:00Hello and welcome to the Metal Fist forecast for the weekend. Classic March weather this
00:05weekend, brilliant blue skies one minute, followed by cold winds and heavy showers the
00:11next. Sometimes we'll see more prolonged rain and stronger winds. For example, on Friday
00:17night we're going to see this little feature wrapped up in the strong westerly airflow.
00:21That's going to push into much of England and Wales by the evening and the ice bars
00:26will tighten, the rain will become more prolonged. And so a wet and windy night for much of the
00:32UK, but particularly for England and Wales. Another noisy night with gales for southwestern
00:37shores transferring eastwards along the south coast overnight, the heavy rain pushing through.
00:42But the wind enough to keep temperatures above zero. We're looking at two to six Celsius
00:47by and large, but below zero for northern hills. And so some snow piling up over the
00:51tops of the Pennines, Scottish mountains, for example, some icy patches to wake up to
00:56as well on Saturday morning. But the wettest and windiest weather is easing its way eastwards
01:02during Saturday itself. So actually, there'll be some decent sunny spells on Saturday, but
01:07they won't last long. I think in many places, shower after shower will push through very
01:11quickly. If you don't like the weather, just wait five minutes. Something else will be
01:15along the best of any prolonged sunshine. Eastern Scotland, northeast England, I think
01:20elsewhere it's frequent showers through the day, hail and thunder in some of the livelier
01:24downpours and some hill snow over northern hills. It's going to feel cold in the wind.
01:29Temperatures not far from average, however, for the time of year. Low pressure moving
01:33away into the North Sea. High pressure is trying to build in, but we've still got this
01:37unstable northwest of the airflow and still some weather front stocking around. And so
01:43Sunday is looking a bit quieter. There'll still be some heavy showers and strong winds
01:47in the northeast first thing. Otherwise, drier and brighter for a time. But the weather fronts
01:53I mentioned, they're going to push some rain into Northern Ireland, western Scotland, perhaps
01:57northwest England and Wales. The rain tending to ease through the day, but yes, some more
02:02prolonged rain possible in these areas. Further southeast and north, a better chance of some
02:08sunny spells, I think, through Sunday and a better chance of drier interludes away from
02:14these showers. Temperatures recovering slightly in the southeast, but I think it's another
02:20coolish day, even if the wind isn't quite as strong on Sunday. Follow us on social media,
02:26we'll keep you updated. And of course, you can follow those showers on the Met Office
02:29app. You won't want to be far from your umbrella this weekend, I think, if you're heading outdoors.
02:34Bye bye.
