00:00Hello again. It's a windy and cold day out there but there will be some blue in the sky,
00:05some brightness out there as well in between the wintry showers. This low is pulling away.
00:11It's brought some very strong winds to the northwest and that swathe of strong winds
00:14is moving through the Irish Sea and it will affect central and southeastern parts of the
00:18country through the rest of the day. In fact, winds could gust around 50, perhaps even 55
00:23miles an hour in southeastern and eastern parts of England. So, a blustery day to come
00:27and those gusty winds bringing a rash of showers south. Those showers eventually turning
00:33up into southern counties but that's where the best of the sunshine will be. Otherwise,
00:36a mixture of bright spells and wintry showers. The showers falling as a mixture of rain,
00:41hail and sleet with snow over the hills of Wales, Pennines and Scottish mountains as
00:46well. And it's going to feel cold in the wind. Temperatures widely below average for the
00:52time of year. Just about scraping a 13 in the south, 7 to 9 further north but when you
00:58add on the wind, it will feel several degrees lower than that. Into the evening and the
01:03showers move through, clearing eventually with clear skies for many overnight but further
01:08showers affecting northwest England and north Wales, Northern Ireland and northern Scotland
01:12where they will be falling as snow, mainly settling over hills and some icy patches around
01:17through the night for northern Scotland as well. But under clear skies fairly widely
01:21elsewhere, a frost forming with temperatures in towns and cities, 0 to 2 degrees in the
01:27countryside, a few degrees lower than that. But in the far south, clouds turn up and some
01:33outbreaks of rain. Mostly the heavier rain will affect the Channel, the Channel Islands
01:38for example but it could just fringe the south coast so a damp start to Friday here and there's
01:43a chance of a few flakes of snow over the top of Dartmoor as that rain bumps into the
01:48colder air. But it does scoot away and then brighter skies follow for much of the country
01:53and really the afternoon turns out to be once again sunny spells and showers. The showers
01:59again with the cold air falling as a wintry mix of rain, sleet and hail at lower levels,
02:04snow over the hills and it will feel cold in the wind once again. But the wind not quite
02:08as strong as Thursday, 11 to 12 in the south, 7 to 9 further north. The wind then eases,
02:16the showers also die away through Friday night, still 1 or 2 continuing for exposed parts
02:22of northern UK and western areas. But under clear skies elsewhere, a widely frosty start
02:28to the weekend. However, despite the chill on Saturday morning, it's going to turn out
02:33to be a largely dry and bright day for many of us.
