00:00Hello. Temperatures are set to soar over the next 24 hours across much of the UK, particularly
00:05across England and Wales. What's causing this fine and increasingly hot weather? High pressure
00:09is centred towards the east of the UK and as we continue to head into Friday and that
00:14migrates its way across Europe, we drag in this very warm, hot southerly airflow from
00:18the near continent. So, temperatures are really going to rise, reaching their peak, I think,
00:21on Friday. Gradually, this front will sink its way southwards. Behind it, cooler, fresher
00:25air. So, by the end of the weekend, all areas will be cooler with temperatures significantly
00:29lower than they will be tomorrow. Back to Thursday afternoon then for much of England
00:33and Wales, it's a fine picture. Variable amounts of cloud, a bit more cloud across
00:36western parts at times, but still plenty of bright or sunny spells. And look at these
00:40temperatures widely across England and Wales into the low to mid-20s, towards the south-east
00:4420 and onward 30. But towards the north-west of Scotland and Northern Ireland here, it
00:47will be cooler and fresher as we see outbreaks of rain continue to affect more northern and
00:51western Scotland through the day. Now, as we head through Friday evening and overnight,
00:54that rain will turn heavier and more persistent as we continue to see heavy rain spreading
00:58up from the Atlantic. Some stronger winds developing as well and that will slowly spread
01:01its way south-eastwards. Elsewhere though, across the bulk of the UK, another dry night
01:05with variable amounts of cloud and another very warm night to come, particularly in the
01:08south with lows not dropping below 17 or 18 degrees there in the south-east. As we head
01:13into Friday then, we pick up that rain once again towards Scotland and Northern Ireland.
01:16Again, heavy at times and brisk winds too. That will slowly push its way south-eastwards
01:20through the day. But again, across the bulk of England and Wales, it's dry, it's fine,
01:24plenty of sunshine, strong sunshine as well. With that southern air flow that I mentioned,
01:28temperatures really will soar. We're looking widely in the mid to high 20s, low 30s for
01:33much of England and Wales and towards that south-east corner, 33 or 34 degrees. But no
01:38speed fresher though across Scotland and Northern Ireland. And through the rest of Friday into
01:42the evening and overnight, that cloud and rain will continue to sink its way southwards.
01:45So by the end of the night, affecting northern England, northern parts of Wales. To the north
01:49a bit cooler and fresher with just one or two showers. To the south and east, again,
01:52a warm and muggy night. So it's all about the heat over the next few days. For more
01:55information, you can follow us on social media. I'll see you again soon.
