00:00Hello, and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04After what has been an unsettled week, today has been a generally drier and brighter day
00:09for most.
00:10Tonight, though, any lingering showers from today will ease, the exception being across
00:15Northern Ireland, Scotland and later on Northern England, where a band of showers or longer
00:20spells of rain that could be heavy at times will spread south-eastwards.
00:23Though this, along with some gusty winds, will keep temperatures in the double figures
00:27tonight in the north.
00:28Further south, though, with some clear spells and lighter winds, temperatures may just dip
00:32into the single figures in rural areas.
00:36That band of rain across the north will quickly clear away into the North Sea, however it
00:40will be followed by further showers.
00:42These will be generally light to moderate in nature, though.
00:46Across much of the south of the UK, it will be a dry and fine start to the week with sunny
00:50spells and temperatures around 22-23.
00:53Across the north, it will be a touch cooler in that cloudier and breezier weather.
00:57Monday evening, we'll see clearer conditions more widely, with a few light showers continuing
01:01in the far north and west.
01:05Now looking further ahead to Tuesday, it will generally be a fine and dry day, though overnight
01:11and into Wednesday morning, rain will affect the far north and west.
01:15It will also become warmer as we head through the next few days, particularly in the south-east,
01:20where highs of around 24 are possible by Wednesday.
