00:00It's Simplification, and I'm here.
00:30This week on the TDN Writer's Room, we welcome a new advertiser, Pleasant Acre Stallions in
00:34Ocala, Florida, a 400-acre property which is home to 13 stallions, including Simplification.
00:40You'll remember Simplification as the winner of the grade two Fountain of Youth and Macho Man
00:45Stakes at Gulfstream. From the immediate family of multiple grade one winner and champion,
00:49Oshado, Simplification was third in the grade one Florida Derby and fourth in the Kentucky Derby.
00:53He is the son of Not This Time, who stands in Kentucky for $150,000. You can breed to
00:58Simplification for just $6,500. TD, what do you remember about Simplification's racing career?
01:04I'll tell you, I do remember something about him. I had him pegged as about a 15-to-1 shot in the
01:09Kentucky Derby off his Florida prep races, and I just remember him going off at an astronomically
01:16higher price. He was 35-to-1, and that was a case where sometimes you bet the horse, sometimes you
01:22bet the price, and even though he was about fourth or fifth down on my list of contenders,
01:26I jumped in with both fists and backed him at 35-to-1. He was 15th in the Derby,
01:32came with a big four-wide move around the turn. He was in it to win it at the eighth pole,
01:36but just didn't have that spark, and I guess I had the wrong long shot,
01:39because that was the year that Rich Strike won at 80-to-1.
