00:00After a successful debut season for multiple Grade 1 winner Mandaloon, Juddmont Farm has
00:07added a second stallion to their stud barn in back-to-back Breeders' Cup Dirt Sprint
00:11winner Elite Power.
00:13I suppose Elite Power and I go way back.
00:15Back in 2017, I was still working at Lane's End Farm, I was over on the mare's side
00:19and had the chance to take Broadway's alibi over to visit Kerwin that year and a year
00:25later the resulting foal is a strapping chestnut with some white socks that I guess the world
00:31now knows as Elite Power.
00:32And it's Gunite trying to fend off Elite Power who's motoring like a big chestnut tank on
00:33the outside.
00:34And Elite Power and Gunite, Elite Power got him right on the money.
00:45I think Elite Power's consistency is what made him a great racehorse.
00:48For any horse to win, you know, eight in a row, nine of ten, you know, and to be competing
00:53and doing that at the level he was doing that at, I mean, it takes a very special horse
00:58and he showed up with the same race every time.
01:01Patient with him, bringing him along, made him allowance races and, you know, thought
01:06the Boss Bird was a good chance to take that first step up and he proved it there and then
01:12fast forward a month and, you know, Elite Power winning the Breeders' Cup Sprint.
01:17And you know, coming into that day, you know, we knew Jackie's Warrior was going to be the
01:20horse to beat.
01:21You know, we'd been proving it all along, you know, but we were confident in our horse
01:25and that big stretch run that he's shown time and time again, you know, came through on
01:31the biggest of days.
01:40Frankie may have summed him up best to start the year, you know, he's just an airplane,
01:44you know, get him pointed in the right direction and just hang on for the ride.
01:48Vanderbilt was exciting, but the legacy he confirmed and cemented in the Sprint this
01:53year, you know, a 1.11 buyer, he runs a Zeo Ragazin, which is the fastest number they've
01:58given any horse this year, kind of cemented his place in my mind as the fastest horse
02:03of the year.
02:04The emotions get to you a bit when you see one hit the line like that and to see him
02:08go out on top and finish his career the way he did, it just, it was very rewarding for
02:13all of us here.
02:14And Elite Power runs right by and he's going to defend his championship.
02:20What a magnificent Sprinter Elite Power is.
02:24He's a unique version of, of arguably one of the best sires going in right in America
02:31right now to be by Kerlin, but to win at the Sprint level, he could be the sire of horses
02:36that could stretch out and be classic type horses.
02:38You know, when we, when, when we bought him, you know, that was the idea, you know, he
02:41looked like a two turn, you know, everybody dreams of the Derby, right?
02:46He looked like the Derby kind of horse.
02:48He had other ideas and his ideas were pretty good.
02:51He's out of a mare that was six for seven and runner up in the Kentucky Oaks.
02:55And the pedigree all has that two turn dirt stamina there.
03:00I think being by Kerlin is going to give him every chance to be one of those types that
03:04while he was a, you know, he was a Sprinter Mylar type.
03:07There's no reason that his offspring can't stretch out and perform at two turns.
03:13Garrett and the team bought him for $900,000 at the September Yearly Sale.
03:17You know, that purchase price alone tells you, you know, what a beautiful horse Elite
03:21Power is.
03:22Confirmationally, he's just perfectly put together, very strong horse, good size, just
03:27a shade under 16.1.
03:30He's not only got the physical, but he's got the mental aspect to show why he was such
03:34a good racehorse, but also why he could, you know, has all the potential in the world
03:38to be a phenomenal stallion.
