00:00Fierceness showed his fierceness in his debut performance here the other day, winning by 11.5 lengths.
00:17We knew that he had good gate speed from his works and we had a sloppy track, so we just talked to IRED and said make sure you get away from the gate alertly.
00:27Kind of at the 8th bowl you felt good about it and then opened up impressively and IRED took him in hand late and time was exceptional, so it was kind of everything you could hope for in a debut.
00:39Fierceness with a tremendous display. Fierceness will win by double digits. Fierceness by about 10.
00:50It was one where you don't have to root because you can kind of sit back and enjoy it. We saw that he ran a 95 fire, which is an exceptional number for a two-year-old. I think it's the second highest one this year.
01:02Everyone, when you have a two-year-old that wins like that the first time out, obviously dreams come to mind and the biggest dream is the first Saturday in May.
01:13We're going to try to go a similar route that we did with Uncle Mo from a maiden race to the Champagne and hopefully if that goes well we'd move towards the Breeders' Cup.
01:23So this is a family that Mike adores and that we've cultivated because the Nona Mia, the Grand Dame, and Nona Bella were named for his beloved grandmother.
01:35We bred Nona Bella to City of Light. We have a position in City of Light. We're shareholders and we believe in him.
01:44It was an excellent match because that cross of Quality Road and Bernardini, one of my favorite fillies of recent date, is Dunbar Road.
01:54It was by Quality Road out of a Bernardini mare, so it was a nick that I thought would work and fortunately it has.
02:03City of Light was very well received at the outset. Got big books of mares and they sold exceptionally well.
02:12We're high on the City of Lights that we have. There are so many good-looking ones that resemble City of Light, who greatly resemble Quality Road.
02:20I love to see that in a stallion line when they pass along the similar confirmation and looks.
02:27I think you have to remember that he didn't emerge until late in his three-year-old year and his four-year-old year is when he excelled and was spectacular.
02:37So I think he's one of those sires, like Curlin was, where you have to have some patience and understanding that the best is yet to come.
