00:00Nestled in a part of Ireland known for its track record of producing classic
00:06horses is Desleydon and Marianne Clay's Sordalstown Little, an operation who have
00:12been in the headlines at the Goths November Foal Sales for the past number
00:16of years as well as being the proud breeders of Arrest, a live derby hopeful.
00:21Marianne tells us about Nisreena, the dam of Arrest, as well as the beauty of the
00:26area that she calls home.
00:34Yeah it's probably all just a lucky coincidence really. So she was sold at
00:42Goths in November, I can't even remember the year, and we were selling foals and I
00:48didn't have time to look at anything as usual and I just sort of suddenly saw
00:53her there in the catalogue. So first mating was with Zebedee and that
00:58resulted in Spring-Loaded who won 11 races and was black-tie placed and a
01:05very good handicapper and second foal was with Lillborn Lad whom we bred
01:10ourselves and the resultant progeny was Dinozzo who was a very good horse in
01:18Hong Kong, won over a million I think there, so she was a mare that started
01:23off great with with modest sires and she just kept going until we thought
01:29she deserved a real upgrade which was with Frankel. Arrest, he was a lovely foal,
01:37a lovely cold foal and and we went to the sales with great hopes and we were
01:42over the moon when actually Jodmont bought him, we certainly didn't expect
01:46that, Jodmont buying a colt. I just never thought this could happen and we were
01:53really really thrilled and they have been fantastic to work with and the
01:59mare is in Fulton Kingman this year so again it's just been a very very lucky
02:04story. He's a lovely horse, was a really nice two-year-old, a big horse though so
02:10he was always going to improve with age. He ran really well in France in
02:17bottomless ground where he was just beaten in a group one that was obviously
02:21fantastic and really well-timed for our sale of his half-brother who's
02:27incidentally gone to Jodmont as well so again which is thrilled with that. The
02:32Chester Vase win was just the icing on the cake really and even to be there I'd
02:39never been to Chester before, special atmosphere and again he showed he's
02:45an aptitude for soft ground, he's a bit round action but he's really done more
02:51than we could ever have hoped for and whatever comes is just a massive bonus.
02:56It's obviously very good land and we have Broadfield stud, Mrs. Whitehead
03:02bred so many good horses up the road, Indian Ridge and then of course we have
03:07the Cullens who have bred two classic winners so the bar has been set high
03:12for this area and I think it is obviously the land, it's the
03:17people, the management but it is also the quietness. I think it's a lovely area,
03:22it's full of nature, it's really peaceful and quiet and I think we can't
03:27underestimate that. I think these future athletes they really need rest time,
03:33downtime and I think that's what makes this area so special.
