00:00Eddie Faison of Eddie F's New England Seafood Restaurant has been to the Winner's Circle
00:06before as an owner, but it was never in Saratoga until this summer when his filly Dream Central
00:12got him his first win at the spa and the inaugural running of the Susie O'Kane steaks.
00:17We stopped by and visited Dream Central and Eddie F ahead of the filly's next start
00:21in his steaks this week.
00:24I'm connected in New York, been in the restaurant business for a long period of time, started
00:31Eddie F's Restaurant in 2016 and started Eddie F's Racing in 2018.
00:37We have a great clientele, we're growing every year, everybody loves it.
00:41For the whole belly clams, you get people coming in the restaurant, actually tell me
00:45they drove two hours just to get the whole belly clams because they're hard to find.
00:49It's a track, you get a lot of exposure, so yeah, you get people from all over the world
00:54coming to Saratoga, so yeah, just to get your name out there is really something special
00:59to be at Saratoga.
01:00He and Gary met up here in Saratoga like 35 years ago and we built a friendship and I
01:07originally bought Chowder first, he's the older brother, full brother to Lobster.
01:12He broke his maiden at Aqueduct and then when we went to Gander Steaks with him, that was
01:17like, man, never thought that would happen, we're a small stable, I've got 12 horses right
01:25now.
01:26We won the first one in 2020, so it's only been two years, we won five steak races, something
01:34that you would never think that would happen.
01:37I bought Dream Central privately from John Jaco, owner of Fedwell Farms, same farm I
01:43bought Chowder, Lobster, bought her as a two-year-old in like March of last year.
01:49She made her debut in November of 2021, then we put her in the steak as a maiden, as you
01:57know, 39 to 1, won the race and from there, here we are.
02:03I really had my mind made up like two months before, I really thought she was going to
02:09break her maiden going into that race.
02:11I didn't think she was going to get there at the eighth hole, you know, and she changed
02:14leads there, she just changed gears and just nailed that horse at the wire, it was like,
02:19oh my God, this is great.
02:21First win for me at Saratoga, steaks race, couldn't ask for anything better than that.
02:26It is she's, Amiyah and Dream Central and they are 1-2, coming on to the finish and
02:31it's a photo finish, Dream Central may have gotten up in the final.
02:35She's running Thursday in the Sire Steaks, it's called the Statue of Liberty.
02:39She's been training, you know, she's been training right along, she's been training
02:42good and once the gates open, there's nothing more to, you know, it's out of our control
02:48and but Gary, like I said, Gary and Paul have done a great job with her and, you know, looking
02:54for hopefully another win here on Thursday.
02:58As owners, we just buy the horses, but this is where these guys here, what they do every
03:03day and Gary and his team have been so great.
03:07At the end of the day, you got to listen to your trainer.
03:10I mean, coming to Saratoga since I've been as long back as I can remember, I know my
03:15parents used to bring us in a stroller, so when they used to want to come, so I've been
03:19coming to this place here, so that's why when Dream Central won that race there, it was
03:24so special for me to win that race.
03:27Just being able to run in a race like that, a steak race at Saratoga, let alone any races
03:32is special, so we're looking forward to it.
