00:00Clayborne Farm will be represented by two first crop yearling sires this year at the
00:06upcoming Keeneland September sale in dual surface grade one winner Catholic Boy and
00:11DeMarshall Yeh, a son of emerging Sire of Sires Dubawi.
00:15We sat down with Walker Hancock to talk about the pair and we took a look at a few of their
00:19yearlings pointing towards Keeneland September.
00:23So Catholic Boy being by the late more than ready obviously has a chance to continue on
00:27his sire's legacy.
00:28He was a grade six winner at two, grade one winner on turf and dirt at three, and a grade
00:33six winner at four.
00:34So he really fits the criteria and the mold of a great stallion.
00:38He's done very well and we're excited to show off his first crop of yearlings.
00:43They're kind of across the board.
00:44I mean they're a little bit like more than ready.
00:47They kind of get a chestnut big and small.
00:49He was very versatile obviously winning in grade one on dirt and turf and you're seeing
00:53a lot of versatility with his offspring as well.
00:56You can go and look at a Catholic Boy and say this one looks like it's going to be a
00:58dirt filly and then you look at the next one and say this one looks like it'll be a grass
01:02colt or whatever vice versa.
01:04So he's really providing that versatility through his offspring that we saw him have
01:08on the racetrack.
01:09This Catholic Boy filly is out of Fashion Week who's by Spicetown.
01:14She has a ton of athletic ability.
01:16We've had some buyers come to the farm here the last two weeks and every single one of
01:20them seemed like they really like her.
01:22She has a presence about her.
01:24She's a really pretty individual and she looks like she'll hopefully be one of Catholic Boy's
01:28highest priced yearlings.
01:31The other colt is a Catholic Boy colt out of line who's out of War Front Mare.
01:37Her second name is Wind who's a really good turf runner.
01:40So it looks like he'll have maybe a little turf influence in his athletics abilities
01:46but here in the last two or three months he's really blossomed into what we expected him
01:49to be and I think buyers will be really pleased with what they see.
01:54Catholic Boy has just short of 60 yearlings in the September sale but he has a really
01:59strong first crop.
02:01He bred well over 100 mares so he'll be able to be competitive with the other freshman
02:05sires.
02:06DeMarcheux bred 102 mares his first crop which we were thrilled with.
02:11Being a horse that was just three for three you never really got to see his potential
02:14with a very European pedigree.
02:17It really wasn't that hard of a sale thanks to Dubawi doing so well as an international
02:20sire.
02:21Peter Brandt supported him.
02:23He fits the profile of Dubawi very similarly.
02:27If you've seen Dubawi he has a lot of his characteristics and he's really throwing that
02:32in his offspring.
02:34Every single one of them almost looks exactly like him.
02:37The colt out of Spank is a typical DeMarchelier, kind of a brown, turfy looking horse.
02:43They're not the biggest but they're really good movers and it looks like they're going
02:46to be very turfy which is to be expected when you breed a DeMarchelier.
02:50Not that he might not be able to get a good dirt horse or two but obviously Dubawi's sons
02:55are really excelling especially in Europe and most of them are on turf which is what
02:59we expect a DeMarchelier to do here.
03:01I think when they hit the racetrack this time next year they'll speak for themselves.
