00:00Hello there. Another cool, cloudy and wet day for many of us today as weather systems
00:05move in and push eastwards across the country. Looking at the bigger picture, low pressure
00:10in charge at the moment, tightly packed isobars indicating fairly strong winds. But as we
00:15move into Bank Holiday Monday, we see a ridge of high pressure pushing in ahead of further
00:20wet and windy weather across northern and western areas greeting us for Tuesday.
00:26The rest of Sunday, outbreaks of rain across Northern Ireland, much of Scotland, Northern
00:30England. This will be heavy at times, particularly over western hills, accompanied by some strong
00:35and gusty winds, gales possible around some western coasts. Further south, generally cloudier
00:40across England and Wales, with a few showery outbreaks of rain across the Midlands, Wales,
00:45the West Country. Best of the drier, brighter weather across south-east England, some sunny
00:50spells here, but also staying on the breezy side. It will be a cool day under the cloud
00:55and rain, temperatures struggling around 14-16C, so with the strength of the wind feeling
01:02quite chilly here, you may need an extra layer. Whilst further south, temperatures also a
01:06little disappointing, around 20-21C, quite similar to what we saw on Saturday. Through
01:13into the evening time, further showery rain across Northern Ireland. Southern Scotland
01:17could be heavy at times, some local disruption possible. This weather front just continues
01:21to feed in showers through the night across this part. Further north across Scotland,
01:25clear spells, but scattered showers across the Highlands and Islands. The rest of England
01:29and Wales also seeing the risk of a few showers, but clear spells. The wind's falling a little
01:34lighter and temperatures also a little higher compared to recent nights, generally 12-14C
01:41under the clearest skies, north-east Scotland dipping into single figures. You can see this
01:45weather front Monday morning across northern England, southern Scotland, into Northern
01:49Ireland, giving thicker cloud, showery rain, which may extend into northern parts of Wales
01:53at times. Either side of this, generally drier and brighter, though cloud will become
01:59more prevalent as we move through into the afternoon. One or two showers are possible,
02:03but generally overall, Monday, which is Bank Holiday for the vast majority of the UK, will
02:08be dry and bright and there'll be some sunny spells and the wind's also falling much lighter
02:13compared to Sunday and temperatures just lifting a little higher as a result. High teens to
02:19low 20s, highs around 23C towards the south-east, so when the sun comes out, it will feel warmer.
02:26Into the evening time, though, the next weather system starts to approach, thickening cloud,
02:30outbreaks of rain, strengthening winds across Northern Ireland, western Scotland to end
02:35of the day on Monday. Elsewhere, generally dry, but the wind's picking up across western
02:39coasts of England and Wales. Thereafter, it stays fairly unsettled across the north and
02:44the west of the UK, but temperatures rising, particularly by midweek across the east and
02:48south-east, approaching 29, possibly 30C. See you again soon.
