00:00Hello, good afternoon. Well, it's really clouded over and the rain has arrived for many of
00:04us this afternoon. However, Thursday will be a much drier and brighter day for most
00:10of us. But for the time being, we're going to have to put up with this rain and it will
00:13turn quite heavy and persistent for some areas. As it pushes into parts of central areas,
00:18it will start to fizzle away. But I think most places will see at least some outbreaks
00:22of rain through this afternoon. And it's certainly going to be a much cloudy afternoon compared
00:26to the start of the day. Having said that, though, parts of Suffolk as well as Kent could
00:30hold on to that dry weather at least until the early part of the evening. It will start
00:35to dry up a little bit across the west, but there's still going to be a lot of cloud around
00:39through this evening here. But the heaviest rain is actually going to be across western
00:44areas of Scotland. That's where we've got a weather warning in force for the day. Up
00:47to 60 millimetres is possible over the high ground in particular. That's enough to cause
00:51travel disruption, spray on the roads. So please check before you travel if you are
00:55in these areas. But despite all this cloud and rain, it's actually going to be a much
00:59milder day compared to yesterday. Highs of 15 or 16 degrees above average for the time
01:05of year. And we will be staying on the milder side of things well towards Friday as well
01:10by day and by night. So it's going to be a mild night tonight. This quite brisk south
01:14westerly breeze will hold the temperatures up. There'll be some further heavy rain across
01:18the northwest first thing this evening. But that band of rain is going to sink into parts
01:22of Midlands, Wales, and then it will linger across the south coast by Thursday morning.
01:27It's becoming a much weaker feature, but it will still have a lot of cloud with it. So
01:31it's going to be a fairly dull start to the day across the south. By contrast, though,
01:36across many northern areas, that's going to be a much brighter start to the day. So it
01:40will turn much drier through the night here. But these are the minimum temperatures for
01:44tonight. These look much more like the daytime maximum temperatures. So it is going to be
01:49a very mild night, but fairly breezy through Thursday. But there will be a lot in the
01:54way of dry and bright weather for many northern and eastern areas, particularly across eastern
01:59coasts of Scotland, northeastern England. Parts of Norfolk as well see the best of that
02:04bright weather. Cloud will thicken, though, across parts of Northern Ireland by the end
02:08of the day as this area of rain returns for Thursday evening. It's also going to probably
02:13stay quite cloudy, probably a bit drizzly, particularly across the southwest, potentially
02:18further east along the south coast as well. But as I said, for many of us, it's going
02:22to be a much drier, brighter and warmer day. We could actually see 20 degrees across some
02:27eastern areas of England, but widely across many northern areas. Temperatures are going
02:31to be climbing up towards the high teens as well above average. And we'll be feeling and
02:36it will feel much better than it has done lately. Thursday evening, though, this band
02:40of rain will push into Northern Ireland and likely up towards Scotland as well. So it's
02:44going to deteriorate for these areas elsewhere, likely stay dry, but they'll probably be quite
02:48a lot of cloud around, particularly across coastal areas. Looking ahead to Friday. Well,
02:53this weather front that brings the rain through Thursday evening is going to continue to push
02:56up into northwestern areas. So there'll be further rain likely for northwestern areas,
03:00north of Northern Ireland, parts of Scotland in the south, though high pressure is not
03:04too far away. So that should hold on to the dry weather for these areas. And it will be
03:08staying mild, as I said, at least until the start of the weekend. But if you want any
03:12more details in your longer range forecast, well, you can check out our latest 10 day
