12 April - National weather forecast presented by Annie Shuttleworth.
Transcript
00:00Good morning. Once a bit of a cloudy start for many of us, but I think later
00:03on today we'll see more of that dry, bright and fairly warm weather once
00:08again like we saw yesterday. However, across northwestern areas, particularly
00:12Northern Ireland, South Western Scotland, this area of northwest England too, there
00:15could be some quite persistent rain through much of the day. That will likely
00:18push into parts of the Western Highlands later on this afternoon. Further east
00:22across Scotland, though it should stay dry for much of the day and actually
00:25across the bulk of the UK, particularly Wales, central southern England, we'll see
00:30a good deal of sunshine later on. That cloud should break up quite nicely. The
00:35sunshine will be fairly hazy though, but it's strong enough to pick the
00:38temperatures up above 20 degrees. We could see 21 degrees across parts of the
00:42southeast. Now further west, we've got the southwesterly breeze. It's quite a brisk
00:46breeze and it's going to be dragging cloud in across coastal areas. So parts
00:50of Wales, coastal areas of Wales, parts of the southwest, also up anywhere across
00:54the Irish Sea coast, we'll likely see a bit more in the way of cloud and those
00:57stronger winds. So it won't be quite as warm in these areas. Now this band of
01:01rain that will have lingered across much of the northwest will slowly sink
01:04southwards for Friday evening. It could bring a heavy spell of rain, also a gusty
01:08spell as well. But once it does move it southwards, it will turn a bit drier for
01:13a time for northern areas of Scotland and Northern Ireland. But you can see
01:16some showers starting to develop, some quite pokey showers as well. They'll
01:20become more of a feature throughout Saturday. To the south of this sort of
01:24weak cloud and rain feature, we'll see quite a lot of cloud forming once again
01:28for many southern areas of England, South Wales as well, perhaps some drizzly rain
01:32on the coast. But it's still quite mild in these areas. There's going to be
01:36another mild night across the south and east. But actually to the north where it
01:40turns clear and we see those showers develop, that's where we see some colder
01:43air arrive through Saturday morning. There's going to be a much more
01:47different feel by Saturday morning here. Now this band across central areas will
01:51sort of linger in these areas for much of Saturday, but it'll likely push into
01:54parts of the Midlands, covering many areas of northern England, parts of Wales
01:58through the day. That brings a risk of cloudier skies and some light outbreaks
02:02of rain. To the south and east of that once again, that's where it will remain
02:06fairly dry, if not a little cloudy, but temperatures still climbing to the high
02:09teens here. But elsewhere across many northern areas of the UK, it's going to
02:14turn much more unsettled and cooler. These showers that you can see will
02:17likely be quite heavy, persistent. They bring a risk of hail. There's also going to
02:20be some quite strong winds wrapped up around a little area of low pressure.
02:25Now that cooler and more unsettled weather will become a little bit more
02:28widespread across the country through Sunday, however it should stay largely
02:33dry across the south. But you can keep up to date with all your details for your
