00:00Hello, very good day to you. In some ways, the weather's not going to feel much like
00:04spring because temperatures are several degrees below average. But on the other hand, there
00:09are plenty of April showers around today. That's because we have low pressure just to
00:13the east of us, bringing a showery theme to many areas. However, as we head into the weekend,
00:19our attention is drawn to another area of low pressure developing to the west of us.
00:24This is initially going to push south before then changing direction and heading back northwards.
00:29Before this, some more rain across parts of the UK on Saturday. Then this deeper area
00:34of low pressure pushes in and brings some heavy, perhaps persistent rain, particularly
00:38across eastern, southeastern parts on Sunday. A bit of uncertainty as to exactly where that
00:43rain will be, but it does look like it will be towards east-southeast, that it is going
00:47to be wettest. With that though, as well as bringing some rain, we're going to see a change
00:51in our wind direction, so temperatures are going to start to climb again.
00:55Back to the here and now, and as we go through Thursday, like I said, quite a few showers
00:58around and these are going to be most frequent across central, southern parts of England
01:03and Wales. Here, relatively cloudy and some of those showers could be a little bit heavy
01:07at times. Further north, across Northern England, Northern Ireland and Scotland, a greater chance
01:12of seeing some decent bright or sunny spells in between the showers. The showers here will
01:16be less frequent, so a greater chance of staying dry, although I can't guarantee it.
01:22Temperatures are a bit below average for the time of year. Worth bearing in mind, the sun
01:26does have some strength behind it, so in any sunshine it will feel warmer than these
01:30temperatures suggest, but we're only looking at highs staying in single figures across
01:35some northern parts and around 13, 14, possibly 15 Celsius further south.
01:41As we go through the end of the day, there will be some more showers around, perhaps
01:44some more persistent rain affecting parts of the southeast through the evening, so a
01:48damp end to the day here, but that rain does clear away overnight. Otherwise, through the
01:52night, a few more showers pushing in, particularly across parts of the north and the east and
01:57some of them could turn a little bit wintry over the higher ground. Elsewhere, and where
02:01we see some clear skies, temperatures are going to take quite a drop. It could get as
02:05low as minus two to minus four in some prone spots tonight, so a touch of frost again and
02:10also a few pockets of mist and fog, particularly across the northern half of the UK. Further
02:14south, it's going to be a little bit cloudier and a little bit milder too.
02:18As we go through Friday itself then, for many, a similarish day to today really. More
02:24showers feeding in from the north and east, still some wintry elements to them over the
02:28highest ground of Scotland, and those showers are going to become a bit more frequent as
02:32we go into the afternoon, a bit more widespread. In the southwest, we need to watch out for
02:36some heavier, perhaps even torrential downpours could cause some issues here as we go through
02:41the afternoon and into the evening. Temperatures will be similar to today for many of us, so
02:46generally staying in high single figures across the north and a few degrees higher
02:50than this further south, so still several degrees below average for the time of year.
02:55As we go into the weekend, and like I said, there is going to be a bit of rain around
02:59on Saturday, but that doesn't look especially heavy. I think the heaviest rain will be across
03:04parts of the east and southeast as we go through Sunday, although there is a little bit of
03:08uncertainty. It does actually look like at the moment Sunday towards the west will be
03:12largely dry. A bit of a breeze for some of us, nothing particularly strong, but one thing
03:17to note is that temperatures should actually pick up a little bit, and so they're going
03:20to get closer to average for the time of year. If you want more information about the weather
03:24we can expect this weekend, then do check out our weekend weather forecast, which will
03:28be available on YouTube later on. Bye bye.
