00:00Hello. Following a fine weekend for many of us, Monday has been very mixed across the
00:05country. We've kept the warm sunshine in the east, but in the west we've had this
00:09band of rain moving in and that's been slow moving. It's brought heavy and persistent
00:13wet weather to much of Northern Ireland, Wales and the south-west and overnight it moves
00:17into Scotland, northern and central England and eventually it turns things more cloudy
00:23into the east of England with a few spots of rain by dawn. But the north-east of Scotland
00:28stays clear of it and towards the west, well, things do clear up here as well, albeit with
00:33some blustery showers moving into Devon and Cornwall by the end of the night. We do get
00:38some clear spells out of the wind in the west, temperatures will dip into the single figures,
00:43but otherwise we're looking at 12 to 15 Celsius by dawn. And a dreary start to the day, certainly
00:49compared with the last few mornings for much of the Midlands, eastern and northern England,
00:53southern and central Scotland. Those outbreaks of rain continue for much of the morning,
00:58although the rain band becomes more fragmented into the afternoon, so more on and off rain
01:03I think for Scotland, for eastern England. And further west, skies brighten following
01:09the morning and there'll be some sunny spells, but some big towering cumulus clouds or even
01:15in the south-west some cumulonimbus clouds will develop. So sharp showers here and there
01:20moving through, but where these showers occur could be some heavy downpours, even the odd
01:24rumble of thunder as well. North-east Scotland keeps the warm, sunny spells for the time
01:29being, albeit around beaches I think, still a cool onshore flow. But somewhere in the
01:35north of the mainland of Scotland where we haven't got the wind coming from the sea,
01:39temperatures could pop up to 20 to 23 Celsius. That's the warm spots across the UK on Tuesday
01:44afternoon, otherwise we're talking about mid to high teens, back closer to average
01:50compared with the weekend's highs. And there'll be a lot of low cloud and those outbreaks
01:55of light rain will make it feel considerably cooler than it has felt for the last few days.
02:02Here's the low pressure that's bringing the rain and the showers and it's really anchoring
02:05itself to the south-west over the next few days. Indeed, it's going to become a persistent
02:12area of low pressure near the UK. But the main band of rain associated with it, well
02:16that eases for a time Tuesday evening before I think through Wednesday another pulse of
02:21activity appears along it. For many places though, it's clear spells and a few showers
02:27on Tuesday nights. The best of the clear spells, Northern Ireland, southern Scotland, into
02:31the Midlands, north Wales for example. Showers continue for parts of Pembrokeshire, Cornwall,
02:36Devon and those outbreaks of rain close to the east coast where there'll be a lot of
02:41low cloud actually affecting eastern Scotland, eastern England as we wake up on Wednesday.
02:46Wednesday starts off once again 12 or 13 Celsius in many places but where we do have some clear
02:50spells overnight and some shelter from the breeze, temperatures dipping into the single
02:54figures. So some nice sunshine to start the day for Northern Ireland, for much of central
02:59and western Scotland through the Midlands and the south. Cloud will build through the
03:03day and showers will develop in many places. They're not going to affect everyone but especially
03:10for Northern Ireland, Wales and the south-west there will be the odd heavy downpour again,
03:15the odd rumble of thunder towards the south-west. The north-east of Scotland stays dry with
03:20sunny spells once again but in between we've got this legacy of the old frontal system
03:25perhaps pepping up later on into east Anglia to give some more persistent rain. A lot of
03:30cloud through these central areas and some of that low cloud turning to mist around the
03:35coasts of the North Sea, making it feel cool. But where we do have some sunshine elsewhere,
03:39high teens, perhaps 20 Celsius or so. It's a theme of sunny spells and showers really
03:44later in the week and into the weekend. So yeah, there'll be some rain around but there
03:48will also be some brighter interludes.
