00:00Hi there. Following a warm and sunny weekend for many of us, a thundery breakdown in some
00:06places later on Sunday has led to a change in conditions for many of us this week. Now,
00:14higher pressure has been prevalent over the last few days but that is now moving into
00:18eastern parts of Europe. Lower pressure returns on Monday and it's going to become very slow
00:25moving because the jet stream is very loopy at the moment, weak and wriggly, which is
00:32typical at this time of year. We often have a weak jet stream with these very elongated
00:38loops in it and what's going to happen this week is that this low arrives, driven in by
00:44the jet stream, then gets caught up in this extending loop and just lingers throughout
00:49much of the week. It turns more showery after some initial heavy and persistent rain on
00:54Monday afternoon and it's Northern Ireland, Wales and the South West where we'll see the
00:58wettest weather during the rest of Monday, clearing up a little for parts of Cornwall
01:03by the end of the day. But nevertheless, it's breezy, it's cloudy and it's wet and as a
01:07result it's not going to feel nearly as pleasant as it felt over the weekend with temperatures
01:12in some parts of western and south-western UK at 10 degrees lower. We keep the fine and
01:19bright weather towards the east, some warm sunshine there for eastern England into south-east
01:24Scotland, lifting temperatures into the low 20s, perhaps even 24 or 25 Celsius once again
01:30but this will be much more localised and there will be a cool feel for the east of Scotland
01:35there and the north-east although it does stay largely dry and bright. Some showers
01:40for north-west Scotland before the main area of rain moves in and this rain does progress
01:44its way eastwards during Monday evening. It tends to become a bit more fragmented, not
01:50quite as heavy and persistent but it's going to be a damp night across western Scotland
01:55into southern Scotland, central and eventually eastern parts of England. Further west and
02:00south-west some clear spells break through but further showers come along for the south-west
02:05of England along with a gusty breeze. Now the rain as we go through Monday and into
02:11Tuesday could cause some issues across south-western parts, south Wales, south-west England seeing
02:16the most with 25 millimetres widely and up to 50 or 60 millimetres on Dartmoor for example
02:24but by the end of the night on Monday night it's showers rather than longer spells of
02:28rain and most places will see temperatures of around 13 to 15 Celsius by dawn but some
02:34cooler spots in the west where we do get some clear spells. Into Tuesday morning we've got
02:39the rain moving into eastern parts of England, much of Scotland as well seeing those outbreaks
02:44of rain. A dull and damp day, certainly a marked contrast compared with the bright conditions
02:50of the last few days but we keep some sunny spells in the far north-east of Scotland.
02:54That's likely to be where the highest temperatures are going to be so the north coast of the
02:58mainland there up to 20 or 22 Celsius. Further west and south-west we're back to the mid
03:05to high teens and there'll be some heavy showers around for Northern Ireland, Wales and the
03:09south-west, perhaps even the odd rumble of thunder in the far south-west. Gusty winds
03:14here but in between the showers some brighter spells coming through as well so it's not
03:18going to be quite as cloudy or as persistently wet as Monday. Into Tuesday night we're going
03:25to see the rain in the east and north-east fizzle away. Elsewhere clear spells and showers,
03:31many places seeing drier weather to end the day though and we go into Wednesday, Thursday
03:36and Friday with further showers at times but also some brighter weather in between.
