00:00Hello. It's a fresh feeling but fine Friday for most of us. It was certainly a chilly

00:06start in places. Parts of northern England and Scotland saw temperatures dip below minus

00:112 Celsius. That's unusually cold for the first half of September. Nevertheless, actually

00:18we've lost the northerly wind. We've still got arctic cold air in place. But for the

00:24rest of the day, many places will see a dry period. Sunny spells, some cloud building,

00:31otherwise just one or two showers for Scotland. And for the vast majority, it's looking reasonable

00:36with temperatures reaching 16 to 17 Celsius. Feeling pleasant enough in any sunny spells

00:43with lighter winds compared with the last few days. But it's still relatively fresh

00:47out there. The arctic air is still in place. In the northwest, we'll see the cloud thickening

00:53by the end of the day. So turning increasingly cloudy for Northern Ireland and Western Scotland,

00:57outbreaks of rain moving in during the evening. For the rest of the country, the cloud tends

01:01to fizzle away and under those clear skies with the cold air in place, one or two mist

01:06and fog patches could form. And temperatures will again fall away. Not quite as low as

01:12the previous night. But for southern and central parts of England and Wales, temperatures getting

01:17close to freezing. Perhaps the low single figures in shelter spots. Otherwise, typically

01:217 or 8 Celsius in main urban areas. Northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, not

01:26as cold because of the increase in cloud and outbreaks of rain. So more like 9 to 13 Celsius

01:31as we begin the weekend. And here it is a grey start to Saturday. A fair amount of cloud

01:37for western and central Scotland, northwest England and Northern Ireland. Some drips and

01:41drabs of rain. Mostly it's damp over western hills of Scotland. Brighter to the east of

01:46Scotland and for much of England and Wales. Although it does turn a little cloudier into

01:51the afternoon. And it's going to be another fair day for many with temperatures of 18

01:57or even 19 Celsius in the south. But the breeze is picking up for western Scotland, Northern

02:02Ireland into Irish Sea coastal areas. And by the end of Saturday, we'll see some more

02:07persistent rain arrive into the northwest. And that's going to slowly sink its way southwards,

02:13perhaps reaching southern Scotland and Cumbria late Saturday evening. One or two spots of

02:19rain for north Wales as well. But we keep the clear skies in the south and southeast.

02:23Not quite as chilly as we start off Sunday nevertheless. But it will be a bright start

02:28once again in the south and across the Midlands, East Anglia and the southeast. Plenty of dry

02:33and fine weather through the day. Likewise, for Scotland and Northern Ireland, we'll see

02:38blustery showers move in but some brightness in between. But in between, we've got this

02:43front sinking south. And so for parts of Northern England, north and west Wales as

02:47well as the north Midlands later on, we'll see some outbreaks of rain. And it's going

02:52to be a relatively damp day. Temperatures of 17 or 18 Celsius in the south, still fairly

02:58cool for the time of year. 15 to 18 Celsius further north. But with those showers moving

03:03through and a gusty wind, it's going to feel relatively on the cool side. Higher pressure

03:09builds then at the start of next week. And that high pressure is here to stay for some

03:13days at least. It's going to migrate its way to Scandinavia. And around the south flank

03:18of that high, we will be bringing in some warmer weather. So through next week, turning

03:23drier, sunnier and warmer for much of the UK. And we'll keep you updated right here
