00:00Hi there, it is a blustery, cloudy, showery start to the day for many of us, but by the
00:04afternoon things will begin to turn drier, brighter and a little less windy. Certainly
00:11there's a fair amount of showery rain across the map as we begin the day. I think the far
00:15south east mostly dry with some sunny spells, but it's going to be very windy for the far
00:21north west with gales for exposed parts of the Outer Hebrides and some heavy showers
00:25moving through. Showers crossing the country from west to east, but as the day goes on
00:29the cloud lifts, it will tend to bubble up so there will be further showers to come,
00:34but there will also be a decent chance of brighter interludes coming through. The most
00:39likely areas for showers, southern Scotland into northern England, parts of the Midlands,
00:43east Anglia by the end of the afternoon, also further showers coming into the north and
00:46north west of Scotland. But away from the showers, some sunny spells and continuing
00:51to feel pleasant in that sunshine, particularly towards the south and south east, 17 or 18
00:56Celsius possible somewhere like London. But it is going to feel fresh even once the winds
01:01have died down in the north of Scotland, 9 or 10 Celsius here. Now towards the end of
01:07the afternoon, outbreaks of rain return to parts of Cornwall and south and west Devon
01:13and those outbreaks of rain will move into Wales, central southern England and eventually
01:18northern Ireland during the evening. As that rain ban moves north, it will turn heavy in
01:24places particularly over higher parts of Wales for example and it's certainly going
01:28to be persistently damp across some of these western and central parts. But drying up once
01:33again in the far south and staying clear of that rain in the far north west where in north
01:37west Scotland there will be a touch of frost overnight. But otherwise it's 9 or 10 Celsius
01:42on the thermometer first thing on Wednesday. However, for many it is a damp start to the
01:48day and the weather front that brings the rain is going to be slowly moving across central
01:53parts of the UK into the North Sea during the course of Wednesday. So gradually as it
01:59departs the UK it will turn drier and brighter once again but it will take some time. The
02:04rain stretching all the way from the Grampians down towards say the Enfor Corridor for much
02:10of the morning, turning to showers into the afternoon but leaving behind a lot of cloud
02:15cover. I think the best chance for any prolonged sunshine, western Scotland and then later
02:19on northern and western parts of Northern Ireland. Also some brighter interludes along
02:23the south coast there. For many places though it's light winds and so where we do get some
02:28glimpses of sunshine feeling pleasantly warm once again even if temperatures are a touch
02:33down compared with recent days across northern parts of the country. And certainly those
02:38temperatures will be limited to where we've got the cloud and persistent rain throughout
02:41much of the day. Turning more unsettled once again on Thursday, Alex Deakin has the full
02:45details in the week ahead forecast which is on our YouTube channel. Bye bye.
