00:00Welcome along to your latest update from the Met Office, a bit of sunshine for most of
00:05us this weekend.
00:06But there will also be showers and we're not completely done with the wintry weather either.
00:11Some snow is still falling over northern Scotland.
00:13It's a messy old picture across the UK with low pressure systems fairly slow moving.
00:18But they are introducing the milder air.
00:21It's never really gone away from the far south, but it's been pushing further and further
00:26northward.
00:27It's going to be a bit milder across northern England and southern Scotland, but still cold
00:30enough in northern Scotland for some snow here, chiefly over hills, but quite a bit
00:34on some of the higher routes through the night, blowing around in a gusty wind as well.
00:38So that's an extra hazard.
00:40We do have a Met Office warning in place through central and southern Scotland and Northern
00:44Ireland.
00:45It'll be outbreaks of rain through the night, heavy showers further south fading, and for
00:48a good part of England and Wales, it'll be a dry and a clear night.
00:52Might turn a little misty with one or two fog patches.
00:54Temperature's not dropping too far either.
00:56We've still got the cold air in place in northern Scotland, so zero to plus one here.
01:00But for most towns and cities, we'll be a few degrees above freezing as we start Saturday.
01:05And actually, for a good chunk of England and Wales, we should start with some sunshine
01:10through central and southern Scotland.
01:11Northern Ireland, it's a dull and a damp start and some wet in northern Scotland, too.
01:16Still some snow falling here, but through the day, the milder air pushes northward.
01:20So the snow becoming increasingly confined to the tops of the mountains by the end of
01:24the day.
01:25It's a bit of a blustery here, so still that snow that is falling on the hills will be
01:29blowing around.
01:30And the wind's picking up in the southwest, too.
01:32That low pressure, you can see the swirl here, just throwing showers through the day over
01:36Devon Cornwall into south Wales.
01:38One or two for north Wales, a good part of northern Ireland heading dry after a damp
01:42start and, say, a good part of England having a fine and a bright day with some wintry sunshine
01:49coming through, which will lift those temperatures, 11, 12, maybe 13 Celsius.
01:52It is colder further north, but even here, these numbers higher than Friday.
01:57So it is turning slowly, but surely milder, obviously not feeling all that mild with those
02:01gusty winds and the wet weather in the far northeast, which slowly continues to pull
02:05away during Saturday night.
02:07Meanwhile, further south, the showers get going a little more.
02:09We'll see a few more of them through the evening and overnight into the Midlands, southeast
02:13England perhaps, and we'll continue to see showers going across Wales and southwest England
02:18also.
02:19A fairly mild night, though, for most, just some frost returning to parts of Scotland
02:25perhaps.
02:26It will turn quite murky overnight, though, so mist and fog on Sunday morning could be
02:29quite slow to clear.
02:30Overall, a cloudier day and a few more showers coming and going, too.
02:34A brighter day, though, for northeastern Scotland, although it will be pretty wet in Shetland.
02:40And then, as I say, we'll see some showers getting going, perhaps turning drier for Wales
02:44and southwest England, but some showers over the Midlands, northwest England and western
02:48parts of Scotland for sure.
02:50Temperature-wise, well, maybe a little bit lower on Sunday.
02:53These numbers are pretty close to the average for the time of year, and again, it will feel
02:56warmer than Saturday across the far northeast, but 10, maybe 11 Celsius with a bit of brightness
03:02across the south.
