10 February - Weather national forecast presented by Alex Deakin.
Transcript
00:00Good morning. Alex Deakin here with your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04This weekend promises a mixed picture. For many, though, something a bit brighter,
00:08at least today, with a bit more sunshine than recent days.
00:11Not so necessarily across Scotland and Northern Ireland,
00:14certainly a damp start through the central belt and across parts of Northern Ireland.
00:18But it's brightening up here. In the far north, we've still got the cold air in place
00:21and the wet weather here, falling as snow over the hills,
00:24blown in by a gusty and cold easterly wind as well.
00:28The wind's picking up in the southwest. A few showers coming into Devon, Cornwall, Somerset
00:32and south and west Wales. But for a good part of east Wales,
00:37much of northern England, the Midlands and eastern England, it's a dry and a bright day.
00:41We should see some sunshine cheering up a little bit too across parts of Northern Ireland.
00:45We've got the mild air in place across the south. Temperatures here likely to get to double figures,
00:50since one or two spots could get to 12, maybe even 13.
00:53And even further north, the milder air is moving in.
00:55So even though these numbers are around or below average,
00:58it's generally a bit warmer than it was on Friday across central and southern Scotland.
01:02Still feeling cold, though, with that wind across the far north,
01:05which continues to bring some wet weather as we go through this evening,
01:09pivoting round and spreading up towards Shetland.
01:12More showers coming into the south for Wales, across the Midlands
01:15and maybe some developing tonight across the southeast of England also.
01:19It will turn a little colder with lighter winds and clearer skies.
01:23Parts of Scotland, northern England could see a touch of frost,
01:26but still pretty mild across the south, sixes and sevens below here.
01:30So we start Sunday, as I said, still pretty mixed, likely to be some fog around,
01:35particularly with the lighter winds over eastern England.
01:37And fog on Sunday morning could be fairly slow to clear.
01:40There will also be some showers over Wales, central and southern England,
01:45and then developing through the day over Northern Ireland and western parts of Scotland.
01:49A much drier day over northeastern parts of Scotland compared to today
01:54and probably not too many showers getting into the east.
01:56But it may stay a bit drab here throughout.
01:58It may stay predominantly overcast, may also turn a bit brighter down towards the southwest later on.
02:05But overall, a cloudier day tomorrow and a touch cooler as a result.
02:09These temperatures pretty close to average, though, for the time of year.
02:13Plenty going on with the weather and in the outlook as well.
02:16If you're on half term next week, you want to keep up to date with the weather updates.
02:20And the best way to do that, of course, is to hit subscribe.
