00:00Welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:03The weather patterns remain pretty static at the moment,
00:05which means Wednesday's weather will be pretty
00:08similar to Tuesday's weather.
00:10Overnight, with clear skies, a hard frost
00:12across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
00:13But also here, some dense patches
00:15of fog, which are going to stick around for much of Wednesday,
00:18especially in and around the Glasgow area
00:21and across western parts of Northern Ireland.
00:23But a patchy rain across the far north of Scotland
00:25through Shetland, and at times in Orkney,
00:27and some showers just keeping going
00:30across parts of southeast England.
00:31So a bit of a damp night here.
00:32But for a good chunk of England or Wales,
00:34it's just dry and cloudy.
00:35And that cloud will help to keep the temperatures up
00:37above freezing.
00:38But for Scotland and Northern Ireland, well below.
00:42Minus 2, minus 3, minus 4.
00:43Even in urban areas, some rural spots
00:46could get down to minus double digits.
00:47Notice not as cold across the far north
00:49because of that thicker cloud and a little bit of rain.
00:52That'll continue across into Shetland through the morning,
00:55as will these showers across the southeast.
00:57Nothing too heavy, but some of them
00:59just moving along the south coast of England.
01:01So don't be caught out by the odd shower
01:03coming into parts of Devon, Cornwall, Dorset
01:06through the afternoon.
01:07And still a brisk and fairly chilly wind here.
01:10The rest of England or Wales, the wind's
01:11actually a bit lighter compared to Tuesday.
01:14And again, across Scotland and Northern Ireland,
01:16we've got light winds.
01:17Many places having quite a bit of sunshine.
01:19But that fog, where it forms, could stick.
01:23Again, particularly in and around the Glasgow area
01:25and the west of Northern Ireland, where the fog sticks
01:27all day, temperatures are not going to get above freezing.
01:30In the sunshine, we should get to 4 or 5 Celsius.
01:33Further south, 6 or 7 is what it'll read on the thermometer.
01:36But not feeling very mild at all because it
01:39is going to be fairly gloomy, in particular that breeze
01:42along the south coast.
01:43That will continue to ease down a bit on Wednesday night.
01:46The fog will thicken up again across parts
01:48of southwest Scotland and Northern Ireland.
01:51So again, something to be aware of.
01:52Poor visibility as we head through Wednesday night
01:55into Thursday.
01:55The rain should have edged away from Shetland,
01:58so largely dry here.
01:59But notice thickening cloud and rain and drizzle
02:02just by this stage coming into parts of eastern England.
02:05That's going to make for quite a dank and dreary old day
02:08on Thursday.
02:09Rain and drizzle, nothing too heavy, but not
02:11feeling very pleasant as the breeze, again,
02:14is noticeable across the southeast.
02:15That's going to feel quite cold with the mostly gloomy skies
02:19here, too.
02:19Again, it'll be Scotland, Northern Ireland
02:21that have some of the brightest weather,
02:22some good spirals of sunshine.
02:24But only if the fog clears away.
02:27And even though we'll see some sunshine,
02:29the winds will remain light here.
02:31Temperatures are, again, going to struggle somewhat
02:34to get much above 3 or 4 Celsius at best.
02:37Further south, temperatures may be a degree or so higher.
02:39But with thicker cloud, gloomy conditions, rain and drizzle,
02:43again, it is going to feel pretty cool, I suspect,
02:46for the time of year.
02:47We are finally going to see some shifts in our weather pattern.
02:50The high pressure that's dominating at the moment,
02:52bringing the largely dry weather,
02:55shimmies away to the east as we head towards the weekend.
02:58Weather fronts try and topple in fairly weak initially.
03:00But these ones could have a bit more
03:02about them bringing some wet and windy conditions
03:04to the far northwest into the weekend.
03:06But I suspect much of the south will stay dry.
03:08And it may well brighten up a touch for the weekend as well.
03:11More details on all of that in our deep dive video.
03:15You can catch that on YouTube.
